Proxim Wireless Products Available to Operate in Newly-Available 5.2 GHz Spectrum

Proxim Wireless Corporation announced that its Tsunami(R) outdoor broadband wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint products are ready to operate in the newly-available 5.2 GHz spectrum. Proxim expects that the availability of this new spectrum will be greatly beneficial to its customers, especially its wireless Internet service provider customers, and is pleased to have equipment ready to use that new spectrum. On May 1, 2014, the United States Federal Communications Commission issued a rule making revisions to the existing rules applicable to devices operating in the U-NII-1 band (5.15 - 5.25 GHz). Most significantly for Proxim's customers, that final rule removed the indoor-only restriction that had applied to the U-NII-1 band and increased the permitted power levels of devices operating in that band. The significant portions of this new rule will become effective on June 2, 2014. As a result, effective June 2, 2014, Proxim's customers will have an additional 100 MHz of new unlicensed spectrum that they can use. Because this will be newly-available spectrum, there will be less congestion and a resulting significantly reduced chance of interference. In anticipation of the availability of this new spectrum, Proxim has been preparing its Tsunami products for operation in this band for the past several months. The capabilities and flexibilities of Proxim's proprietary Wireless Outdoor Routing Protocol (WORP(R)) software were critical in enabling Proxim to have products ready to operate in this new band. The strength of Proxim's WORP software will also enable purchasers of recent Tsunami products to obtain a software upgrade enabling the use of even those previously-purchased products in this new band.

Proxim Wireless Corporation Launches its Tsunami(R) 825 Compact and Robust Outdoor Product Line

Proxim Wireless Corporation launched its Tsunami(R) 825 compact and robust outdoor product line. The 825 series is an addition to Tsunami 8000 point to point and multipoint platform leverages the proven WORPdrive(R) feature set in a smaller form factor. Tsunami 825 subscriber units are fully backward compatible with Proxim's flagship Tsunami product family and can be used for expansion of existing networks thereby ensuring investment protection. Wireless ISPs around the world are looking to build scalable wireless networks with high capacity products to serve the ever increasing bandwidth needs of their subscribers. Tsunami 825 series products are designed to offer WISPs and telecom operators the ability to deploy higher power (i.e., +26dBm) devices for enhanced coverage. The CoS /QoS and other features of Proxim's WORP deterministic software enable operators to offer differentiated service levels to their different classes of customers. Wireless networks are a key element in deploying IP based video surveillance. With wireless networks delivering 50-70% cost saving compared to deploying wired option (copper or fiber), Tsunami 825 series products ruggedized, compact footprint will serve the needs of security integrators with flexible mounting options. The small size is also critical in this application as the 825 will be able to be installed where the cameras need to be, not where the wires are. Key Features of Tsunami 825 product: Powered by WORP(R); Compact form factor; Easy to install; Extended Coverage; Robust IP67 Grade metal Enclosure; Seamless Roaming; Product line compatibility and Extremely Secure.

Proxim Wireless Corporation Launches Latest ORiNOCO(R) WLAN Access Point AP-8100

Proxim Wireless Corporation introduced the latest member of the ORiNOCO(R) family of enterprise-class Wireless Local Area Network access points the ORiNOCO AP-8100. The AP-8100 has been designed to meet the indoor Wi-Fi wireless connectivity needs for the enterprise market segment, which includes a wide variety of entities such as hotels and hospitality venues, hospitals and other medical care facilities, schools and universities, 'hot spot' Internet connectivity providers (both as an amenity and as a paid service), as well as state, local and federal governmental agencies. The AP-8100 is an OFDM, MIMO 2x2, 802.11n dual radio access point. One radio operates in the 2.4 GHz spectrum, while the other operates in the 5 GHz spectrum for greater flexibility and interference avoidance and improving maximum throughput. It provides 300 Mbps data rate per radio for an aggregate data rate of 600 Mbps in a single, low-cost product. The AP-8100 product is 802.3af compliant, enabling PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) (IEEE 802.3 af/at) and deployment in areas where power outlets are not available without the need for power injectors. In addition, Proxim's newest ORiNOCO access point has a sleek, lightweight, compact design to blend seamlessly into an enterprise environment.
