The company also distributes heavy equipment products for the mining, construction, forestry, and agribusiness industries; provides coal mining contracting services; operates coal mines; and produces crude palm oil. In addition, it offers IT business solutions in the fields of infrastructure, professional, and outsourcing services, as well as document solutions. Further, the company operates toll roads; a marshalling yard; and covered tanks for oil, as well as provides clean water services. Additionally, it is involved in used–car sales, logistics, and public transportation operations. The company was formerly known as PT Astra International Incorporated and changed it name to PT Astra International Tbk in 1990. The company was founded in 1957 and is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. PT Astra International Tbk is a subsidiary of Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd.

The company reported net revenue of IDR 46,678 billion, net income of IDR 4,310 billion or IDR 106 per share against net revenue of IDR 46,353 billion, net income of IDR 4,647 billion or IDR 115 per share a year ago. Overall net debt at 31 March 2013, exclusive of the Group's financial services subsidiaries, was IDR 6.2 trillion, compared to net debt of IDR 8.9 trillion at the end of 2012. The Group's financial services subsidiaries had net debt at 31 March 2013 of IDR 36.5 trillion, compared to IDR 36.8 trillion at the end of 2012.
