Petronas Gas Bhd reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of MYR 910,443,000 compared to MYR 914,802,000 a year ago on the back of lower revenue contribution from gas processing, partially offset by higher gas transportation revenue. Operating profit was MYR 479,059,000 against MYR 445,060,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 485,889,000 against MYR 446,762,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to shareholders of the company was MYR 360,438,000 against MYR 333,456,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per ordinary share were 18.22 sen against 16.85 sen a year ago. Despite lower revenue, profit before tax and profit for the quarter increased by MYR 39.1 million and MYR 26.9 million respectively. This was primarily contributed by decrease in depreciation expense as a result of review of property, plant and equipment major components and useful lives undertaken by the group last year. Net cash generated from operating activities was MYR 518,051,000 against MYR 598,639,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 482,860,000 against MYR 497,083,000 a year ago.

Petronas Gas Bhd announced that the shareholders of the company at its Annual General Meeting to be held on 16 May 2013 proposed a final dividend of 35 sen per ordinary share under the single tier system for the financial year ended 31 December 2012. The dividend will be paid on 19 June 2013 to shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Depositors on 23 May 2013.
