PetroChina Company Limited produces and sells oil and gas in the People’s Republic of China. The company operates in four segments: Exploration and Production, Refining and Chemicals, Marketing, and Natural Gas and Pipeline. The Exploration and Production segment is involved in the exploration, development, production, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. The Refining and Chemicals segment engages in the refining of crude oil and petroleum products; and production and marketing of primary petrochemical products, and derivative petrochemical products and other chemical products. The Marketing segment is involved in the marketing of refined products; and trading activities. It sells gasoline, kerosene, and diesel; and operates service stations. This segment operates pipelines of 66,776 km consisting of 40,995 km of natural gas pipelines, 16,344 km of crude oil pipelines, and 9,437 km of refined product pipelines. The company was founded in 1988 and is based in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China. PetroChina Company Limited is a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation.

PetroChina Co. Ltd. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported turnover of RMB 540,263 million compared to RMB 525,647 million a year ago. Profit from operations was RMB 53,079 million compared to RMB 54,850 million a year ago. Profit before income tax expense was RMB 49,668 million compared to RMB 54,077 million a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the company of RMB 36,017 million or RMB 0.20 per basic and diluted share compared to RMB 39,153 million or RMB 0.21 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash flows from operating activities were RMB 17,093 million compared to RMB 21,844 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were RMB 65,617 million compared to RMB 70,990 million a year ago. The company reported asset impairment loss of RMB 11 million compared to RMB 4 million a year ago.
PetroChina Co. Ltd. announced that pursuant to the resolutions passed at the Board Meeting, the Board announced election of Mr. Zhou Jiping as the Chairman of the Board. The appointment took effect from 25 April 2013.
