pancontinental uranium corp (PUC) Key Developments

Pancontinental Uranium Corporation Provides Update on Scoping Study at Charley Creek REE Project

Pancontinental Uranium Corporation reported that its Joint Venture partner, Crossland Uranium Mines Limited, announced that the Scoping Study for a mining and processing operation at the Charley Creek Alluvial Rare Earth Project in Central Australia is proceeding well. The study will produce capital and operating cost estimates for all of the major facets of the Charley Creek project including mining operations, wet and dry plant mineral concentration facilities, REO refinery, infrastructure, accommodation, water supply, and draft environmental scoping document (ESD). The study assumes a staged development, commencing with the production of a high grade (40%+) TREO concentrate, followed by the construction of a refinery to remove uranium, thorium and major gangue elements to produce a high purity mixed rare earth carbonate product. MSP Engineering was awarded the engineering scoping study in November 2012 and is on track to deliver their final study report at the end of February. This study will provide a capital and operating cost estimate for the production of a high grade monazite/xenotime concentrate and associated infrastructure. Process design for the REO refinery has been awarded to a specialist consultant. GHD is progressing towards the draft EIS for the Charley Creek project. Exploration is ongoing or has occurred at three Australian projects which include Charley Creek, Chilling, and Kalabity. Charley Creek has the potential for large alluvial REE deposits, and large, lower-grade, Rossing-type, granite-hosted uranium deposits.

Crossland Uranium Mines Ltd and Pancontinental Uranium Corporation Provide Update on Charley Creek REE Project

Pancontinental Uranium Corporation announced that its Joint Venture partner, Crossland Uranium Mines Ltd. announced regarding the Charley Creek REE project in NT, Australia. Approximately seven tonnes of alluvium from the Cattle Creek area at the Charley Creek Project has been extracted and processed by the Crossland field team to produce over 400kgs of first stage heavy mineral concentrate (HMC1). This HMC1 sample has been forwarded to AML laboratories in Perth to use for ongoing metallurgical testwork. The current focus of this testwork is: Refinement of the second stage of concentration using electrostatic and magnetic separation techniques to produce high grade mixtures of dominantly xenotime and monazite, with target TREO grades of over 50%. The xenotime /monazite concentrate will be utilised: Samples will be sent to REE producers that have requested samples for evaluation - Ongoing metallurgical test work designed by Crossland's consultants including leach tests to confirm consultants' expectations that these concentrates are amenable to simple dissolution approaches, involving the two most common REE process routes, utilising sulphate and chloride leaches. The overall objective of the metallurgical testwork program is to confirm at a laboratory scale that the Charley Creek ore can be processed from mining through to the production of saleable REE products, using well understood and low cost technology.

Crossland/Pancontinental Announces Encouraging Results from Wet Plant Development Program Charley Creek Rare Earth Project

Pancontinental Uranium Corporation announced that its Joint Venture partner, Crossland Uranium Mines Limited, announced regarding the Charley Creek REE project in NT, Australia. An initial wet plant gravity flowsheet program has been completed on a bulk composite sample of alluvium from Cockroach Dam prospect at Charley Creek. Results confirm the Charley Creek rare earth project is amenable to beneficiation via wet gravity spiral plant. Grade and recoveries from the wet gravity spiral pilot plant were excellent. The pilot program was conducted at Allied Mineral Laboratories Pty Ltd. (AML) in Perth WA under the supervision of Crossland's metallurgical consultant. A recovery of 76% TREO (Total Rare Earth Oxide) at a grade of 6.24% TREO contained within 1.37wt % of the initial feed was achieved. A number of opportunities have been identified to improve both grade and recovery, particularly of Heavy REO and zircon. This wet plant concentrate is now undergoing conventional electrostatic and magnetic separation (Dry Plant) to produce a final concentrate product expected to contain approximately 50% TREO. The proposed Wet and Dry plants for the Charley Creek project would utilise identical technology used by the mineral sand industry for recovery of titanium minerals and zirconia. The Charley Creek process flowsheet represents a low risk and low capital option to enter early production. The Wet Plant concentrate can be readily transported to a Dry Plant, where the final concentrate containing approximately 50% TREO can then be produced for sale or refining to value added products. Dry Plant test work will be completed by end of July and an update will be provided once results are received.
