Prudential plc, together with its subsidiaries, provides retail financial products and services, and asset management services to individuals and businesses in Asia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It offers life insurance, health and protection products, and mutual funds, as well as selected personal lines property and casualty insurance, group insurance, institutional fund management, and consumer finance. In addition, it provides retail financial products and services, including long-term insurance, asset accumulation and retirement income products, retail investment and unit trust products, and fund management services through financial advisers, partnership agreements with banks and other financial institutions, and direct marketing. Prudential plc was founded in 1848 and is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

Prudential plc announced interim management statement for first quarter 2013. For the period the company reported on new business profit group insurance £563 million compared to £536 million in the same period last year. Sales APE total group Insurance £1,038 million compared to £964 million in the same period last year. Group insurance operations total was £5,360 million compared to £4,975 million in the same period last year. Total group Investment flows were £13,409 million compared to £9,183 million in the same period last year. Total group net inflows were £3,502 million compared to £2,116 million in the same period last year. The global growth outlook remains uncertain, with on-going efforts to reach a more healthy fiscal balance weighing on the growth prospects of a number of large Western economies. In that context, the emerging economies of Asia are expected to continue growing at a faster rate than most developed markets. Prudential enjoys leading positions in South-east Asia, where the outlook for long-term, profitable growth remains extremely favourable, given low insurance penetration and a rapidly growing, increasingly urbanized and wealthy middle class. The company also benefit from strong platforms in the US and in the UK where there are focused on earnings and cash, implementing their value over volume approach.
