Pick n Pay Holdings Limited reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the twenty six weeks ended August 31, 2014. For the period, the company reported revenue of ZAR 32,452.6 million compared to ZAR 30,278.0 million reported a year ago. Profit before tax was ZAR 365.9 million compared to ZAR 271.3 million reported a year ago. Profit attributable to equity holders of the company was ZAR 137.9 million or 25.79 cents per diluted share compared to ZAR 102.8 million or 19.50 cents per diluted share reported a year ago. Diluted headline earnings per share were 25.59 cents compared to 19.88 cents reported a year ago. Cash generated by operating activities was ZAR 1,316.0 million compared to ZAR 1,786.0 million reported a year ago. Investment in intangible assets was ZAR 67.6 million compared to ZAR 103.8 million reported a year ago. Investment in property, plant and equipment was ZAR 281.4 million compared to ZAR 453.9 million reported a year ago. Diluted headline earnings were ZAR 133.6 million compared to ZAR 103.6 million reported a year ago. Total sales growth has slowed over the period, due in part to lower growth from net new space. The Board declared an interim dividend of 9.40 cents per share, 30.6% up on last year. The shares will trade ex-dividend from the commencement of business on 8 December 2014 and the record date will be 12 December 2014. The dividends will be paid on 15 December 2014. The company will accelerate its opening program, with more than 80 new stores planned to open in the second half of fiscal 2015.
