Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) is reportedly in talks with potential buyers to sell Qantas Defence Services Pty Limited. BAE Systems plc (LSE:BA.) and Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) are potential buyers being targeted by Qantas Airways. The sale is expected to generate between AUD 80 million and AUD 100 million for Qantas Airways.

Alan Joyce, Chief Executive officer of Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) said on May 2, 2013 that the discussions had taken place over a possible sale of its Terminal 3 at the Sydney Airport. Speculation has emerged in the past month that the airline is looking forward to a possible sale of its long-term leases for its terminals in Sydney, Melbourne Perth and Brisbane.

Qantas Airways Limited reported preliminary traffic results for the month and year to date ended March 2013. For the month, the company reported passengers carried of 1,882,000 compared to 1,911,000 a year ago. Revenue passenger kilometers were 2,355 million compared to 2,384 million a year ago. Available seat kilometers were 3,103 million compared to 3,102 million a year ago. Revenue seat factor was 75.9% compared to 76.8% a year ago. For year to date, the company reported passengers carried of 16,652,000 compared to 16,637,000 a year ago. Revenue passenger kilometers were 21,416 million compared to 21,355 million a year ago. Available seat kilometers were 28,054 million compared to 27,298 million a year ago. Revenue seat factor was 76.3% compared to 78.2% a year ago.
