On May 13, 2013, the Board of Directors of Rite Aid Corporation elected Bruce G. Bodaken to the Board. Mr. Bodaken is currently a director and audit committee chairman of WageWorks Inc. It is expected that Mr. Bodaken will be appointed to the Nominating and Governance Committee.

Rite Aid Wellness Store in the Belvidere area held a grand opening Saturday. The store is at 2 Upper Sarepta Road in White Township.

Rite Aid Corporation reported sales results for the four weeks and eight weeks ended April 27, 2013. For the four weeks, the company reported same store sales decreased 4.0% over the prior-year period. April front-end same store sales decreased 3.5%, negatively impacted by an earlier Easter this year compared to last year. Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 454 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, decreased 4.2%. Prescription count at comparable stores decreased 0.2% over the prior-year period. Total drugstore sales decreased 4.6% to $1.902 billion compared to $1.993 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales accounted for 67.9% of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 96.9% of pharmacy sales. For the eight-week, the company reported same store sales decreased 3.0% over the prior-year period. Front-end same store sales increased 0.1% while pharmacy same store sales decreased 4.4%. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 0.1% over the prior-year period. Total drugstore sales for the eight weeks ended April 27, 2013 decreased 3.5% with sales of $3.841 billion compared to $3.982 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales represented 67.7% of total drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.0% of pharmacy sales.
