Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation provides banking and financial products and services to corporate customers, small and medium enterprises, and institutional customers in the Philippines, the United States, Asia, and Europe. Its deposit products include savings and checking accounts, cash cards, savings accounts with automatic transfers, time deposits, and foreign currency deposits. The company’s loan portfolio comprises commercial and consumer loans; and wholesale lending, rediscounting, and guaranty facilities. It also provides remittance, payment and settlement, treasury, trust, money market, and trading services; and overdraft facilities. In addition, the company offers corporate cash management services, such as collection and receivables services; disbursements; government payment services; and third party services comprising collection and receivables services, and payment management services. Further, it provides investment banking services, such as the underwriting of debt and equity securities for distribution through public offering or private placement; syndicated loans, joint ventures, and project finance arranging/packaging services; financial advisory and consultancy services; and mergers and acquisitions services. Additionally, the company offers ancillary services, including day and night depository, deposit pick-up and delivery, foreign currency conversions, foreign trade information, economic and investment research, wealth management, and safety deposit boxes; mobile and Internet banking services; and automated teller machines (ATM) and bills payment machines. As of December 31, 2013, it operated a network of 435 business centers comprising 27 extension offices; and 1,150 ATMs. The company was formerly known as Rizal Development Bank and changed its name to Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation in January 1963. The company was founded in 1960 and is based in Makati, the Philippines.

Rizal Commercial Banking Seeks To Sell Cathay Financial

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (PSE:RCB) is in talks to sell a 20% stake to Cathay Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (TSEC:2882), Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation's Chief Executive Officer, Lorenzo Tan, said. Rizal Commercial Banking may sell a 10% while shareholder CVC Capital Partners Ltd may also sell 10%.

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation announced that the Board of Directors, in its regular meeting held on August 26, 2014, approved the appointment of first senior vice-president Mr. Manuel G. Ahyong, Jr. as Head of Wealth Management Group effective September 1, 2014. Mr. Ahyong is a seasoned banker with 29 years of banking experience particularly in Treasury and Private Banking. He has been with RCBC since 2006. The company announced resignation of independent director Mr. Antonino L. Alindogan, Jr. as member of the Corporate Governance Committee. The company also announced the appointment of independent director Mr. Armando M. Medina as member of the Corporate Governance Committee.

Cathay Financial Is Reportedly In Talks To Buy A Minority Stake In Rizal Commercial Banking

Cathay Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (TSEC:2882) is in talks to buy a minority stake in Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (PSE:RCB), people with knowledge of the matter said. Cathay may seek to purchase about 20% to 30% of Rizal Commercial, the people said, asking not to be identified as the negotiations are private. “We are seeking aggressively to invest in banks in Southeast Asia,” Cathay Financial Executive Vice President Alan Lee said on August 26, 2014, reported Bloomberg, “There are no concrete details to be disclosed at this moment.” Japanese lenders have also expressed interest in Rizal Commercial, said one of the people, declining to name them. Rizal Commercial President Lorenzo Tan declined to comment on the discussions, reported Bloomberg.
