Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited, together with its subsidiaries, engages in owning, operating, and managing ships, as well as related shipping activities. It operates in three lines of businesses: Shipper-Owned-Container, Carrier-Owned Container, and Value-Added Logistic Services. The Shipper-Owned-Container business offers space on vessels to container owning customers, including main-line operators, non vessel operating common carriers, ISO tank operators, and other container box owners requiring transportation of their boxes between ports. The Carrier-Owned-Container business manages a container box fleet that is offered directly to exporters and importers to load for transportation in the trading lanes. The Value-Added Logistic Services business provides custom house brokerage and domestic haulage, as well as contract logistics arrangements comprising inventory management, cross country haulage, and multi country supply chain management services. The company is also involved in cargo consolidation and operating activities. In addition, it provides transportation and cargo handling, freight forwarding, and logistics services; and operates as a shipping agent and broker. As of April 16, 2013, the company owned and operated a fleet of 45 vessels. It has operations in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, and other countries in South China Sea. Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited was founded in 1979 and is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited Announces Audited Consolidated Earnings and Operating Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended December 31, 2013

Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited announced audited consolidated earnings and operating results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported posting a net loss of THB 939 million after provisions for loss in both vessel impairment of THB 722 million and onerous contract for the amount of THB 155 million. The company's loss in fourth quarter of 2012 was THB 1,223 million. Continued over-capacity has contributed to the operating loss of THB 953 million, before a gain on sales of fixed assets. As a result of the decline in lifting's, total turnover for the fourth quarter before exchange difference, gain on sale of assets and adjustment for unrealized loss on derivatives, increased by 8% year on year at THB 3,474 million. For the year, after taking into consideration the gain from sales of fixed assets in fourth quarter of 2013, the twelve months loss was THB 1,652 million as compared with the loss of THB 1,927 million in 2012. The company announced that group's shipper owned container liftings in fourth quarter decreased 14% year-on-year at 240,735 TEUs. For carrier owned container, the lifting's decreased 7% year-on-year at 254,432 TEUs. The total lifting for fourth quarter of 2013 therefore decreased 10% year-on-year at 495,167 TEUs. On the full year basis, SOC liftings decrease 8% at 1,031,524 TEUs and COC liftings decreased 5% at 1,057,348 TEUs, resulting in total lifting's decrease of 6% at 2,088,872 TEUs.
