The company operates through Media Italy, Media Spain, Advertising and Events, and Books segments. The company publishes Corriere della Sera, a national daily newspaper; and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the sports daily in Italy. It also publishes El Mundo, a national newspaper; Expansiòn, the business daily; and Marca, a sports newspaper in Spain. In addition, the company publishes women’s magazine Telva, and specialized magazines comprising Marca Motor, Actualidad Económica, Golf Digest, Arte, Historia, and Siete Leguas; monthly magazines, such as Amica, Style Magazine, Dove, Io e il mio bambino, and Insieme; weekly magazines consisting of Oggi and Io Donna; and books under various brand names, including Rizzoli, BUR, Bompiani, Lizard, Sonzogno, and Adelphi. RCS MediaGroup S.p.A. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2014

RCS MediaGroup S.p.A. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net revenue of EUR 262.9 million against EUR 285.2 million a year ago. LBITDA was EUR 45.9 million against EUR 114.8 million a year ago. Operating loss was EUR 60.1 million against EUR 133.9 million a year ago. Loss before tax was EUR 73.8 million against EUR 142.7 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was EUR 61.3 million against EUR 108.8 million a year ago. Group's loss for the period was EUR 53.9 million against EUR 107.1 million a year ago. Net financial debt as on March 31, 2014 was EUR 520.8 million against EUR 474.3 million at December 31, 2013. The Group's continued to invest in tangible and intangible fixed assets, with Capex during the first quarter of 2014 totaling EUR 8.9 million, over half of which in the digital business. The Group's revenue is expected to grow in 2014 partly driven by the expected development in the digital business, across all the Group's business segments. Advertising revenue is expected to grow driven by the expected positive performance of sport publications concurrently with the Italian 2014 soccer championships, the growth in digital revenue, the acquisition of new revenue from new contracts entered into with third-party publishers as well as the ongoing commitment by RCS Sport in the organization of new sporting events, such as the Dubai Tour, whose first edition was successfully held in February 2014. Circulation for 2014 will continue to be affected by the evolution of the business model, confirming the declining trend of printed products and the growth in digital editions. Revenue from Books is expected to grow modestly (on a like-for-like basis) against a declining market, with a growing, albeit limited, contribution from the multi-media segment.
