RDA Microelectronics, Inc. announced that Samsung has selected the RDASW36 switch for two Samsung models, the 2G Samsung Galaxy Star smartphone and the 3G Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo smartphone. Both smartphones are expected to be released in the second quarter of 2013 and will be sold in Europe and emerging markets, such as South America.

RDA Microelectronics, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company's revenue was $97,146,000 compared to $71,995,000 a year ago. Revenue increased 35% year-over-year as a result of strong baseband shipments and increasing volumes of WiFi combo chip for low-cost smart phones. Operating income was $10,996,000 compared to $14,410,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $11,782,000 compared to $15,180,000 a year ago. Net income was $10,708,000 or $0.22 per diluted ADS compared to $13,850,000 or $0.30 per diluted ADS a year ago. Non GAAP net income was $13,700,000 or $0.28 per diluted ADS compared to $16,400,000 or $0.34 per diluted ADS a year ago. The company provided earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2013. It expects revenue to be in the range of $109 million to $111 million, an increase of 12.2% to 14.3% sequentially and an increase of 15.5% to 17.6% year-over-year. The company expects gross margins to be approximately 32.3%.
