red hat inc (RHI) Key Developments

Red Hat, Inc. Announces Update to its FeedHenry 3 Mobile Application Platform

Red Hat, Inc. announced an update to its FeedHenry 3 mobile application platform. The update, featuring a new Teams and Collaboration enhancement, is an expansion to mobile application platforms for enterprise development. The FeedHenry 3 mobile application platform brings something new to the market with its integrated collaboration and access control features that support distributed development teams working in unison across multiple application projects. The FeedHenry 3 Teams and Collaboration enhancement includes: Global collaboration on mobile application projects: Multiple distributed development teams, both in-house and outsourced, can work simultaneously in FeedHenry 3 on mobile application projects, which consist of a variety of client applications, cloud applications, and services, each with their own individual Git repositories. Developers work individually but with access to relevant project-related components, increasing agility at individual stages in the application development lifecycle; Role-based collaboration across the application lifecycle: Multiple skills and teams, from application design, front-end coding, back-end services development, analytics, administration, and more, can work concurrently across multiple application projects bringing applications to market faster and more efficiently without impacting individual developer agility and productivity; Access controls for mobile projects: Configuration of fine-grained controls at individual levels of each mobile project enables ease and security of access to key project components. This helps lock functionality at different levels within the platform. For example, by setting authorized access controls, sensitive back-end systems credentials can be insulated from third-party or other developer roles, providing greater security and compliance. This fine-grained access control also encourages an API-driven and micro-services development and discovery approach, enabling ease of discovery and reuse of core components and services; Company-wide visibility across mobile projects: Centralizing collaboration and control across multiple skills in multiple mobile projects, across various stages of their lifecycle, enables visibility of all company-wide mobile projects. This promotes a mobile-first approach to enterprise mobility, supporting innovation and reuse.

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation Collaborates with Red Hat and Cirrascale to Deliver an Evaluation Platform for HPC Clusters to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Applied Micro(R) Circuits Corporation, announced collaboration with Red Hat(R) and Cirrascale(R) to deliver a high performance computing (HPC) cluster based on the world's first ARM(R) 64-bit X-Gene(TM) Server on a Chip(TM) to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory(R). This cluster will be tested and evaluated as a platform for HPC and Big Data technologies. The X-Gene cluster as developed by Cirrascale consists of 78 RM1905D 1U dual-node rackmount servers provisioned for high performance computing in a custom chassis supporting one to four GPUs in a system. X-Gene is the first processor of its kind, featuring 8 custom, enterprise-class, high-performance ARMv8-A cores running at 2.4Ghz, with 4 memory channels capable of accommodating up to 512GBytes of high speed DDR3 memory, Multiple integrated 10Gigabit Ethernets, 17 lanes of PCIe Gen 3.0; the device is the first and most advanced ARM 64-bit architecture with unique network and storage off-load engines. The highly integrated, purpose-built X-Gene platform delivers the high performance, low total cost of ownership (TCO) for private cloud, public cloud, High Performance Computing and enterprise applications. The Cirrascale RM1905D HPC Development Platform is an ideal solution to deploy ARM 64-bit architecture in production ready environments. The RM1905D Development Platform delivers twice the density by providing two individual nodes per 1U, effectively doubling the density over standard 1U rackmount implementations.

Red Hat, Inc. Launches New Release of OpenShift Enterprise and Adds Private iPaaS

Red Hat, Inc. announced OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 and strengthened its xPaaS with a new private integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) offering to provide cloud-based services for application integration and messaging. Based on their traditional on-premise counterparts, the new services - JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS - offer unified, enterprise-grade integration to, from, and within the cloud. With today's release of OpenShift Enterprise 2.2, Red Hat further enhances the PaaS experience by delivering key features for operations, including integration with Red Hat CloudForms. Hybrid IT infrastructures are the new norm for modern enterprises, but integrating applications and workloads across these environments can be complex and challenging. Cloud-based integration and messaging tools such as JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS allow for faster integration by removing the traditional infrastructure setup process that can increase application time-to-market. OpenShift by Red Hat gives developers and enterprise architects more control over their application infrastructure through self-service capabilities. JBoss xPaaS services blend the agility and flexibility of PaaS with powerful middleware capabilities in an enterprise-ready package. Red Hat opens the door to a new paradigm for enterprise application development by combining its middleware stack and PaaS technologies to create a unified development and operations experience. In addition to the application container service based on Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and new generally available integration and messaging services, JBoss xPaaS technologies available in developer preview include services for data virtualization, mobile, application containers, business process management, and business rules management. JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS are based on Red Hat's traditional on-premise integration and messaging offerings, Red Hat JBoss Fuse and Red Hat JBoss A-MQ. The latest versions of both products, announced at Red Hat Summit 2014, introduced features such as full support for AMQP 1.0, a vast library of connectors, improved high availability, and the ability to manage processes. The release of OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 brings improved integration with existing datacenter infrastructure and enables easy deployment on a variety of virtualization and cloud technologies through integration with Red Hat CloudForms, the company's hybrid cloud management offering. OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 provides out-of-the-box integration with popular identity management and DNS management platforms for easy integration into enterprise datacenters. In addition, enhanced PaaS management for operations is enabled by the addition of application placement and middleware cartridge configuration controls. OpenShift Enterprise deployment can be fully automated and controlled by Red Hat CloudForms. This capability enables OpenShift Enterprise to be deployed automatically to any hybrid cloud infrastructure managed by CloudForms.
