Renault Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the First-Half Ended June 30, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Full Year of 2014

Renault reported consolidated earnings results for the first-half ended June 30, 2014. For the period, the company reported net profits of EUR 749 million compared to EUR 39 million it achieved in the first half of 2013 when its figures were hit by the ending of its business in Iran. Operating profit rose to EUR 729 million. Sales - which fell 3% to EUR 19.82 billion? 3.0% year-on-year decline in group sales revenues from EUR 20,441 million (USD 27,460 million) to EUR 19,820 million. The main fall back in this performance stemmed from its automotive division, which retreated 3.3% year-on-year to EUR 18,739 million primarily due to adverse currency exchange rate translation effects. Also saw an improvement in its group operating profit, which rose 25% year-on-year to EUR 729 million. This, combined with the decline in sales revenues, resulted in its operating margin growing from 2.9% in the first half of 2013 to 3.7%. Operational free cash flow had fallen from EUR 31 million to EUR 360 million, not helped by an increase in its working capital requirement of EUR 861 million. The unit's net cash position also remained positive at EUR 791 million, but has fallen by 55.1% since 31 December 2013. Net financial loss was EUR 124 million against EUR 139 million a year ago. Net income was EUR 801 million against EUR 97 million a year ago. Net income per share was EUR 749 against EUR 39 a year ago. For the year 2014, the company expects increase registrations and Group revenues (at constant exchange rates), improve Group operating profit and that of the automotive division and achieve positive Automotive operational free cash flow.
