RSA Insurance Group plc announced first quarter interim management statement results for the year 2013. For the period, net asset value per share, excluding the pension deficit, is up 5% to 112 pence. Tangible net asset value per share, excluding the pension deficit, is up 8% to 70 pence. Premiums of GBP 2.3 billion are up 7% as reported and up 5% at constant exchange, with growth led by Canada and Emerging Markets, making each of businesses in turn. The company provided earnings guidance for the year 2013. For the year, the company premium growth, a combined operating ratio of below 95%, investments income of around GBP 470 million and return on equity of between 10% and 12%.

RSA Insurance Group plc Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Year Ended December 31, 2012; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2013

RSA Insurance Group plc announced consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2012. For the year, the company reported net written premiums of £8,353 million against £8,138 million a year ago. Underwriting result was £375 million against £375 million a year ago. Operating result was £684 million against £727 million a year ago. Profit before tax was £479 million against £613 million a year ago. Profit after tax was £351 million against £427 million a year ago. Diluted operating earnings per share were 10.5 pence against 11.2 pence a year ago. Diluted earnings per share on profit attributable to the ordinary shareholders of the parent company were 9.4 pence against 11.8 pence a year ago. The net asset value per share as at December 31, 2012 excluding IAS 19 was 107 pence compared to 108 pence as at December 31, 2011, and including the pension deficit was 101 pence compared to 104 pence as at December 31, 2011. Underlying return on equity was 10.0% compared to 11.6% a year ago. The company provided earnings guidance for the year 2013. For the year, the company continues to seek opportunities to enhance yield within the company low risk framework and would anticipate investment income of around £470 million in 2013. Assuming the current yield environment persists beyond 2013, the company expect the fall in investment income to continue but to be less severe over the following three years. The company expects return on equity of between 10% and 12% in 2013.
