Rock-Tenn Company manufactures and sells containerboard and paperboard products in the Unites States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. The company operates through four segments: Corrugated Packaging, Consumer Packaging, Merchandising Displays, and Recycling. The Corrugated Packaging segment offers containerboard, corrugated sheets, corrugated packaging, and preprinted linerboards for consumer and industrial products manufacturers, and corrugated box manufacturers; and converts corrugated sheets into corrugated products. This segment also provides structural and graphic design, and engineering services, as well as automated packaging machines, turn-key installation, automation, line integration, and packaging solutions. The Consumer Packaging segment manufactures coated recycled and bleached paperboards; market pulp; specialty recycled paperboards; folding cartons; solid fiber partitions; express mail envelopes; and die-cut paperboard components, as well as prints, coats, die-cuts, and glues the cartons to customer specifications. The Merchandising Displays segment offers temporary and permanent point-of-purchase displays; and lithographic laminated packaging products, as well as provides contract packing services, such as multi-product promotional packing and product manipulation. The Recycling segment collects, sorts, grades, and bales various recovered papers, including old corrugated containers, office paper, box clippings, newspapers, and print shop scraps; collects aluminum and plastics for resale to manufacturers, as well as provides recycling and waste disposal services, fiber marketing, and brokerage system services. The company sells its products through own sales force, independent sales representatives, and independent distributors. Rock-Tenn Company was founded in 1936 and is based in Norcross, Georgia.

Rock-Tenn Company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, Net Sales were $2,608.0 million against $2,485.1 million a year ago. Operating profit was $260.2 million against $279.1 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $241.1 million against $256.8 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $153.9 million or $1.06 per diluted share against $176.5 million or $1.20 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $402.7 million against $309.9 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $156.5 million against $133.3 million a year ago. Adjusted net income was $191.1 million against $195.6 million a year ago. Net debt increased $6 million in the September quarter to $2.95 billion and at September 30, 2014. Sales increased due to the acquisition of A.G. Industries, and also due to the on-boarding of several new clients sooner than expected. For the year, Net Sales were $9,895.1 million against $9,545.4 million a year ago. Operating profit was $854.4 million against $814.2 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $770.3 million against $710.7 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $479.7 million or $3.29 per diluted share against $727.3 million or $4.98 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $1,151.8 million against $1,032.5 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $534.2 million against $440.4 million a year ago. Adjusted net income was $549.2 million against $533.7 million a year ago. Net debt increase was $566.8 million for the full year. For the year 2015, the company expects the tax rate for the first quarter and the full fiscal year of between 34% and 36%, excluding the impact of any discrete items. The company expects that capital expenditures will be in the range of $500 million to $550 million.
