Raytheon Company Wins $49.5 Million Enhanced Laser Maverick Production Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon Company a $49.5 million contract for production of new laser-guided Maverick missiles (AGM-65E2/L). The Navy also intends to exercise a contract option to purchase additional units bringing the total contract value to $54.9 million. The Maverick weapon system, a U.S. Air Force (USAF)-led joint service program, is a forward firing, precision-guided, close air support missile. Maverick is effective against a wide variety of fixed, stationary, moving and maneuvering land and sea targets. The new Laser Maverick (AGM-65E2/L) includes these enhancements: Digital laser seeker; New software that reduces the risk of collateral damage and is upgradable based on customer needs; Ability to precisely engage land and sea-based high speed moving targets; Advanced flight algorithms to boost performance in a variety of operational situations; Proven compatibility with existing F/A-18, AV-8B, F-16 & A-10C operational flight program integration; and Self, buddy and ground-based lasing capability for all platforms. The enhanced Laser Maverick is a result of a comprehensive USAF and USN Developmental Testing/Operational Testing program that was completed in 2011.

Raytheon Unveils Landshield GPS Anti-Jam Technology

Raytheon has released its most enhanced anti-jamming capability for Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. Named Landshield, the new system simultaneously provides anti-jam capability for the L1 and L2 GPS frequencies. Landshield includes an integrated antenna array based on a proven Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). Raytheon intends to deliver systems to the United States government for evaluation in early 2015. Landshield was developed for the U.S. Army's Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) program. A presidential directive has created an initiative to enable U.S. forces to operate GPS technology in denied or constrained environments. According to Raytheon, the new GPS-AJ systems could be integrated into almost 40% of U.S. Army land vehicles. The Landshield system can also operate under rotor modulation conditions on combat helicopters.

Raytheon Company Unveils Wearable Computers for Battlefield Intelligence Operations

Raytheon Company unveiled its wearable computing Intel-Ops solution at the AUSA 2014 Meeting and Exposition. The new technology merges its proven, wearable computer system with situational awareness capabilities to create an enhanced real-time view of the battlefield for commanders and their troops. The new Intelligence and Operations Convergence solution provides a near-term, affordable way for warfighters to overcome challenges in delivery of relevant intelligence and operational information at the battlefield's tactical edge by integrating existing Programs of Record. Raytheon's innovative solution leverages investments already made in its deployed Air Warrior wearable computing technologies and couples that with the DCGS-A Lite capability that enables troops to receive intelligence and generate new intelligence as they perform missions in bandwidth-challenged areas. The combination offers customers cost and time efficiencies as they address their Intel-Ops convergence requirements. Raytheon's development marks another step in its focus on delivering integrated intelligence solutions. The new system has been selected for demonstration to U.S. Special Forces in late October.
