Rockwell Collins, Inc. designs, produces, and supports communications and aviation electronics for commercial and military customers worldwide. It operates in two segments, Government Systems and Commercial Systems. The Government Systems segment provides communications systems and products to enable the transmission of information, including satellite communications; navigation products and systems, such as radio navigation products, global positioning system equipment, handheld navigation devices, and multi-mode receivers; and avionics subsystems for aircraft flight decks that include flight controls and displays, information/data processing and communications, navigation, and safety and surveillance systems. It also offers cockpit display products consisting of multipurpose flat panel head-down displays, wide field of view head-up, and helmet-mounted displays; and simulation and training systems comprising visual system products, training systems, and services. This segment serves the U.S. Department of Defense, other ministries of defense, other government agencies, and defense contractors. The Commercial Systems segment supplies aviation electronics systems, products, and services, including integrated avionics systems; integrated cabin electronics systems; communications systems and products; navigation systems and products; situational awareness and surveillance systems and products; electro-mechanical systems; simulation and training systems; and on-board information management systems and connectivity solutions, airborne and ground applications, and ground infrastructure and services. It serves original equipment manufacturers of commercial air transport, business and regional aircraft, commercial airlines, and business aircraft operators. The company also provides maintenance, repair, parts, and after-sales support services, as well as aftermarket used equipment. Rockwell Collins, Inc. was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Rockwell Collins Inc. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended June 30, 2014; Updates Earnings Guidance for the Year 2014

Rockwell Collins Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total sales of $1,264 million against $1,132 million a year ago, primarily due to the acquisition of ARINC. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $229 million against $230 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $163 million against $161 million a year ago. Net income was $158 million against $164 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was $1.15 against $1.20 a year ago. Earnings per share from continuing operations were $1.19 compared to earnings per share from continuing operations of $1.18 a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported total sales of $3,577 million against $3,255 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $629 million against $616 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $445 million against $455 million a year ago. Net income was $437 million against $457 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was $3.19 against $3.30 a year ago. Cash provided by operating activities was $237 million against $309 million a year ago. The $72 million reduction in cash flow from operations was primarily due to $94 million in higher income tax payments and $60 million in higher employee incentive pay, partially offset by $54 million in lower pension plan contributions and other working capital changes. Property additions was $115 million against $85 million a year ago. Acquisition of intangible assets was $1 million against $1 million a year ago. The company provided earnings guidance for the fiscal year 2014. The fiscal year 2014 outlook has been updated due to the pending sale of Datapath and to narrow the ranges from the previous financial guidance: the company expects total sales in the range between from $4.90 billion to $4.95 billion. The company earlier expected total sales in the range between from $4.95 billion to $5.05 billion. Earnings per share is to be in the range between from $4.45 to $4.55. The company earlier expected earnings per share is to be in the range between from $4.40 to $4.55. Cash flow from operations is to be about $650 million from earlier expected range of $600 million to $700 million. Capital expenditures is to be about $160 million. Full year income tax rate is to be about 30%.

Rockwell Collins Receives Contract to Provide FCM for Boeing 777X

Rockwell Collins has received a contract to provide the Flight Control Module, or FCM, for the Boeing 777X Integrated Flight Control Electronics, or IFCE, fly-by-wire, or FBW, system through a bid led by BAE Systems. The FCM technology builds upon Rockwell Collins' flight control electronics found on multiple FBW-equipped air transport aircraft under development. It delivers high-integrity FBW computing functionality that supports the 777X's new wing with load alleviation, and its high lift and folding wing tips. Production of the 777X is expected to begin in 2018 with first delivery on track for 2020.
