SAIC, Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Enhanced Cybersecurity Services (ECS) program to become a Commercial Service Provider (CSP) of approved ECS services that will strengthen protection of U.S. critical infrastructure against imminent cyber attacks. In accordance with the MOA, SAIC is developing the capability and security certifications to utilize threat indicators for securing critical infrastructure customers against cyber threats. ECS is a voluntary information sharing program that assists critical infrastructure owners and operators as they improve the protection of their systems from unauthorized access, exploitation, or data exfiltration. DHS works with cybersecurity organizations from across the federal government to gain access to a broad range of sensitive and classified cyber threat information. DHS develops indicators based on this information and shares them with qualified CSPs, thus enabling them to better protect their customers who are critical infrastructure entities.
Science Applications International Corporation announced that Lou Von Thaer has been appointed to president of the company's National Security Sector (NSS), effective June 6. In his new role, Von Thaer will lead nearly 13,000 analysts, scientists, engineers, and business professionals providing support for customers across the full spectrum of national security programs including cybersecurity. Since 2005, Von Thaer was president of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.
The Cadmus Group, Inc. has been awarded a new contract to continue supporting U.S. General Services Administration programs that improve the performance of its buildings nationwide. Cadmus, along with technology partner SAIC, was awarded a contract for five years, totaling $5 million. Cadmus will guide performance improvements for 140 properties within the GSA portfolio, leading to lower annual operation costs and improved occupant satisfaction. GSA also expects the properties to achieve compliance with the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Building as well as USGBC's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Volume Certification program.
