Grupo Financiero Santander México, S.A.B. de C.V. provides various banking services in Mexico. The company was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. Grupo Financiero Santander México, S.A.B. de C.V. is a subsidiary of Banco Santander, S.A.

Grupo Financiero Santander S.A.B. de C.V. announced unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported net interest income of MXN 8,636 million compared to MXN 8,105 million a year ago. Fee and commission, net was MXN 3,329 million compared to MXN 2,964 million a year ago. Core revenues were MXN 11,965 million compared to MXN 11,069 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 4,717 million compared to MXN 5,013 million a year ago. Net income per share was MXN 0.7 compared to MXN 0.7 a year ago. ROAE was 18.8% compared to 22.1% a year ago. ROAA was 2.3% compared to 2.6% a year ago. Comparable net income increased 6.6% year over year to MXN 4,940 million. Comparable results eliminate the extraordinary impact on the quarter results of a MXN 378 million reversal of provisions in connection with a middle-market corporate loan. Additionally, comparable first quarter of 2013 excludes an increase in expenses for MXN 441 million resulting from normalizing expenses throughout the year, rents for MXN 100 million, branch expansion expenses for MXN 135 million and a tax benefit of MXN 250 million resulting from the sale of a previously written-off loan portfolio.
