VMware and SAP AG announced a new model to deliver SAP Core Solutions and SAP HANA in the newly announced VMware vCloud Hybrid Service. The joint offering is designed to allow customers to consume SAP solutions on VMware vCloud Hybrid Service in a true OpEx model with subscription pricing for both software and infrastructure services. The joint offering is expected to deliver a fully managed subscription service offered by VMware on-premise, in the cloud or within hybrid deployments. Additionally, SAP HANA One Premium, a new subscription-based 64GB instance of the leading SAP HANA platform for productive use and with enterprise support, will be available on VMware vCloud Suite and the new VMware vCloud Hybrid Service. This expanded relationship between VMware and SAP is expected to accelerate cloud adoption for customers deploying SAP solutions by enabling choice and lower TCO, delivered through a common platform built on VMware cloud infrastructure. Operated by VMware, vCloud Hybrid Service enables onsite and offsite IT environments to be not only connected and integrated with common management, but to run existing and new applications in the same way with enterprise scale without changes to the application. The new model is intended to allow customers to get the agility of running SAP solutions in a public cloud while using existing management tools and extending existing network and security infrastructure. This is expected to make SAP HANA One Premium behave like a part of a customer's existing data center by enabling customers to integrate on-premise ERP data with HANA on VMware vCloud Hybrid Service. SAP Solutions running on VMware vCloud Hybrid Service are expected to be available in the United States in third quarter of 2013. SAP HANA running on VMware vCloud Suite for development and testing use is available now. In addition, SAP will provide production support for 64GB instances of SAP HANA with VMware Cloud Suite deployed in vCloud Hybrid Service.

SAP AG announced a new initiative with Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) designed to promote sustainable investment in emerging economies. EMPEA is a community of more than 300 leading fund managers and institutional investors from nearly 60 countries and representing over $1 trillion of managed assets. With analytics solutions donated by SAP, EMPEA can offer both the general public and its members an interactive dashboard highlighting its research on the distribution and impact of equity and venture capital funding in emerging markets around the world. Lack of transparency in the industry has been a challenge, obstructing the flow of capital into developing economies. Because the investments are private, the data is not easily available, much less unified into a coherent picture. EMPEA has solved this problem with their database of emerging markets' private equity activity. The functionality of SAP(R) BusinessObjects(TM) Dashboards software provides a new level of transparency on a number of economic factors in emerging economies. The general public can use a version of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Data Dashboards to examine regional statistics and trends in private equity fundraising and investment. Members of EMPEA gain further access to country-level details including a fund managers database with customizable search results. Members can also use customizable analytics to drill down into particular aspects or areas of fundraising and investment activities. With the new tool, it is expected that investors can easily search for the most active deal makers in each region as well as examine sectors and strategies.

Tangoe, Inc. announced that it has signed a Software Development Cooperation Agreement with SAP AG. Under terms of the agreement, Tangoe and SAP will work cooperatively to integrate Tangoe's Mobile TEM software suite with the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio including SAP(R) Afaria(R) 7.0. Specifically, the agreement enables Tangoe and SAP to develop interoperability between the SAP Afaria mobile device management software and Tangoe's procurement, fulfillment, invoice processing, expense allocation, asset management, plan optimization, catalog management and carrier payment capabilities.
