In addition, it licenses the rights to produce and distribute Starbucks branded products to The North American Coffee Partnership with the Pepsi-Cola Company, as well as licenses its trademarks through licensed stores, grocery, and national foodservice accounts. The company offers its products under the Starbucks, Teavana, Tazo, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Starbucks VIA, Starbucks Refreshers, Evolution Fresh, La Boulange, and Verismo brand names. As of September 29, 2013, it operated approximately 10,194 company-operated stores and approximately 9,573 licensed stores. Starbucks Corporation was founded in 1985 and is based in Seattle, Washington.

ICA Gruppen Enters into Licensing Agreement with Starbucks Coffee Company

ICA Gruppen announced the signing by ICA Sweden of a licensing agreement with Starbucks Coffee Company to open Starbucks retail stores in the grocery store channel in Sweden. These cafés will be operated by ICA according to the Starbucks licensing concept and under the Starbucks brand. ICA said that with the addition of new businesses that complement and strengthen its stores and marketplaces, it can generate growth in its core business, grocery retail. Initially, ICA plans to open three Starbucks retail stores during 2015. These will then be evaluated before a decision is made on the possible establishment of more cafés.

Starbucks Corporation Launches Single-Origin Coffees in Grocery Stores Across US

Starbucks Corporation announced the launch of three new single-origin coffees in US grocery stores by mid-September 2014. The three new single-origin coffees includes: Starbucks Guatemala Laguna de Ayarza Single-Origin Coffee; Starbucks Rwanda Rift Valley Single-Origin Coffee; and Starbucks Timor Mount Ramelau Single-Origin Coffee. Starting in mid-September, Guatemala Laguna de Ayarza, Rwanda Rift Valley and Timor Mount Ramelau will be available exclusively where groceries are sold in the United States. All three premium coffees will be offered nationally for a suggested retail price of $11.99 for a package of 10-ounce ground coffee. Guatemala Laguna de Ayarza and Rwanda Rift Valley will also be offered as K-Cup Packs: $11.99 for 10-count and $14.99 for 16-count packages.

Starbucks Corporation to Launch Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle

Starbucks Corporation announced that it will launch a new Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle in winter 2014. This consolidation of small-batch roasting will allow the company to expand their Starbucks Reserve coffee line to 1,500 locations globally, as well as open at least 100 stores designed to highlight these rare coffees exclusively. Recognizing the diversity of needs across their customer base, Starbucks also plans to test small-footprint, express stores focused on offering convenience to customers. In December, Starbucks plans to open its first-ever Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room designed to be an integrated coffee roasting, education and retail space allowing the company to expand its small-lot sourcing program and to serve as homage to the rich history of specialty coffee.
