The company offers personal care products, such as incontinence care under the TENA name; baby diapers and other baby care products under the Libero, Drypers, Pequeñin, and Treasures, as well as Baby Sens, Baby Star, BabyFral, BioCare Baby Plus, Cuddlers, DryBaby, DryKids, Hey Baby!, Komili Bebe, Libero-Peaudouce, Plissé Bebé, and Tessy babies names; and feminine towels, liners, tampons, and other feminine care products under the Bodyform, Calipso, Donnasept, Komili, Libresse Lifestyle, Nana, Nuvenia, pam, and Rozi names. It also provides toilet tissue, kitchen rolls, handkerchiefs, and paper napkins primarily under the Edet, Famiia, Handee, Plenty, Purex Regio, Sorbent, Tempo, Velvet, Zewa, and Lotus. In addition, the company offers hand towels, toilet paper, skin care products, air refresheners, facial tissue, bins, wipers, wet wipes, kitchen rolls, napkins, and other hygiene products for washrooms, wash stations, healthcare areas, food and beverage handling, food preparation, manufacturing and maintenance under the Tork brand name; and paper products and dispensing systems under the Lotus Professional brand name. Further, it sells forest products, such as publication papers, such as uncoated magazine paper, uncoated offset, supercalendered publication, and light weight coated paper; packaging papers; pulp for tissue and publication papers; solid-wood products for house building, home furnishings, and furniture industries; and forest-based biofuels, such as tree branches, crowns, stumps, bark, sawdust, peat, and processed products, which include pellets and briquettes. Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget SCA (publ) reported audited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months and parent earnings results for the six months ended June 30, 2014. For the six months, on consolidated basis, the company reported that net sales rose 8% to SEK 50,063 million compared to SEK 46,451 million a year ago. Operating profit excluding items affecting comparability rose 21% to SEK 5,564 million compared to SEK 4,593 million a year ago. Profit before tax, excluding items affecting comparability, rose 24% to SEK 5,081 million compared to SEK 4,087 million a year ago. Earnings per share before and after dilution were SEK 4.66 compared to SEK 3.22 a year ago. Consolidated net sales for the second quarter of 2014 grew 12% compared with the same period a year ago. Operating profit for the second quarter of 2014, excluding items affecting comparability, rose 29% compared with the same period a year ago. The increase is mainly attributable to a better price/mix, higher volumes, cost savings, the acquisition of the majority shareholding in the Chinese company Vinda, and gains on forest swaps. Strategic capital expenditures, fixed assets were SEK 900 million against SEK 782 million last year. Net debt at the end of the period was SEK 37,915 million against SEK 33,919 million at December 31, 2013. Cash flow from operating activities was SEK 3,667 million against SEK 3,587 million last year. Acquisition tangible and intangible assets were SEK 2,565 million against SEK 2,505 million last year. Operating profit was SEK 5,159 million compared to SEK 3,802 million a year ago. Profit before tax was SEK 4,676 million compared to SEK 3,296 million a year ago. Earnings attributable to owners of the parent were SEK 1,784 million compared to SEK 1,144 million a year ago. Return on equity was 10% against 9% for the period ended December 31, 2013. Return on equity excluding items affecting comparability was 11% against 11% for the period ended December 31, 2013. For the quarter, on consolidated basis, the company reported net sales of SEK 25,829 million compared to SEK 23,119 million a year ago. Operating profit was SEK 2,776 million compared to SEK 1,905 million a year ago. Profit before tax was SEK 2,581 million compared to SEK 1,678 million a year ago. Earnings attributable to owners of the parent were SEK 3,276 million compared to SEK 2,263 million a year ago. Earnings per share before and after dilution were SEK 2.54 compared to SEK 1.63 a year ago. For the six months, on parent basis, the company reported operating loss of SEK 236 million compared to SEK 315 million a year ago. Profit before tax was SEK 4,986 million compared to SEK 569 million a year ago. Net profit was SEK 5,300 million compared to SEK 855 million a year ago.

SCA and Vinda to Integrate Hygiene Business in China

SCA and Vinda International Holdings Limited is strengthening the cooperation with Vinda. SCA to transfer its hygiene business in China (Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau) to Vinda. As part of the transaction, SCA and Vinda have signed an agreement regarding the exclusive license to market and sell the SCA brands; TENA, (incontinence products) Tork (Away from Home tissue), Tempo (consumer tissue), Libero (baby diapers), and Libresse (feminine care) in China (Mainland China,Hong Kong and Macau). With this agreement, Vinda will hold the rights to these product brands in these Chinese markets. Vinda will acquire SCA's Dr. P and Sealer brands in China. The agreement is subject to approval by the independent shareholders of Vinda.

SCA Introduces New, Higher Performance TENA(R) Stretch 3XL Bariatric Brief

SCA announced the introduction of a new, higher performance TENA Stretch 3XL Bariatric Brief to its comprehensive product portfolio. Now the large and most absorbent bariatric brief offered by SCA Personal Care, the product's new high rise design, larger waist size and micro-bead technology guarantee better coverage, faster acquisition rates, and added comfort to help care facilities provide more dependable incontinence protection to larger residents. The new TENA 3XL Bariatric Brief features the same look and feel as SCA's existing line of TENA Stretch products, which maximizes wearer comfort and fit, and has been well received by care homes. Pairing a larger waist size of 69-96 inches (175-247 centimeters) with a rise increase from 38 inches to 44.3 inches, the product delivers an improved, more flexible fit and limits leakages while residents are lying down and chances of leakage are higher.
