It operates through three segments: PET/PET Recycling, Packaging, and Chemical. The company offers continuous chemical fibers, raw white and mass-dyed cut fibers, granules for plastics, synthetic polymer sheets, and compound thermoshaping, as well engages in various industrial or commercial activities related to the chemical industry, and assembly of industrial plants. It also offers polyester fibers and resins, polyethylene telephthalate, PET packaging materials, biofuels and other energy derivatives obtained from renewable materials, and gases; and ethylene oxide, monoethylenglycol, diethylenglycol, polyethyelenglycols, and polyols polyuethane foams. In addition, the company engages in the production of electricity through a cogeneration plant; development of industrial projects; marketing, import, export, and recovery of various kinds of products related to plastic; and study, promotion, management, construction, building, and execution of various kinds of buildings and constructions. Further, it leases buildings, machinery, data processing equipment, and vehicles under operating lease contracts. The company was incorporated in 1925 and is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain.

The chairman of Spanish petrochemicals group La Seda de Barcelona, Carlos Moreira, presented his resignation, due to discrepancies with creditor Anchorage Capital Group. Moreira resigned together with board member Jorge Alexandre Tavares, both representatives of Portuguese glass maker BA Vidro in the management of La Seda. Moreira will be replaced by Jose Luis Morlanes until La Seda appoints his successor.
