The company’s Sears Hometown and Hardware segment operates Sears Hometown Stores that offer products and services across a selection of merchandise categories, including home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, sporting goods, tools, and household goods; and Sears Hardware Stores, which provide products and services across a range of merchandise categories, such as home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools, other home improvement products, fasteners, electrical supplies, and plumbing supplies, as well as proprietary in-store services comprising blade sharpening, key cutting, and screen repair. It also operates Sears Home Appliance Showrooms that offer home appliances and related services in stores primarily located in strip malls and lifestyle centers of metropolitan areas. As of February 2, 2013, this segment operated 943 Sears Hometown Stores in 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda; 90 Sears Hardware Stores in 16 states; and 85 Sears Home Appliance Showrooms in 22 states. Its Sears Outlet segment provides in-store and online access to purchase outlet-value products across an assortment of merchandise categories, including home appliances, apparel, mattresses, lawn and garden equipment, tools, sporting goods, and televisions. As of February 2, 2013, it operated 127 locations, which include 97 retail-only stores, 25 retail stores with onsite repair facilities, and 5 retail apparel stores. This segment also offers a suite of product protection plans and services options; and sells its products at searsoutlet.com. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. also provide various services, such as home delivery, and installation, and extended service contracts. The company is headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. operates independently of Sears Holdings Corporation.

Net income was $9,660,000 or $0.42 per basic and diluted share against $7,904,000 or $0.34 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $19,932,000 against $25,999,000 a year ago. For the year, net sales were $2,453,606,000 against $2,344,199,000 a year ago. This increase in sales was driven by the impact of the fifty third week, a 0.6% increase in comparable store sales, new stores and an increase in delivery revenues. The comparable store sales increase was driven by a 1.0% increase in Hometown and a 0.8% decrease in Outlet. Operating income was $99,525,000 against $55,274,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $99,980,000 against $54,783,000 a year ago. The $44.2 million increase is primarily due to the higher sales and the higher gross margin rate partially offset by higher selling and administrative expenses as noted above. Net income was $60,080,000 or $2.60 per basic and diluted share against $33,056,000 or $1.43 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $109,796,000 against $80,919,000 a year ago.
