Semen Indonesia Planning Acquisition Of Cement Company

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (JKSE:SMGR) is planning to enter Bangladesh. Media reports stated citing Semen Indonesia's Corporate Secretary, Agung Wiharto as saying that the company looking to enter the Bangladeshi market following its successful venture in Vietnam and plans to set foot in Myanmar in 2014. According to the report, the official stated, “We will probably acquire grinding mills in Bangladesh, but not this year.” He said that the company will ether purchase a cement company or start a joint-venture company in Myanmar and added the negotiations with three potential companies are on, but the deal has not yet reached a conclusion. Agung Wiharto added that Semen Indonesia has allocated $300 million from its internal cash reserves and through bank loans to fund its foreign expansion projects in 2014 and is optimistic about the plans.
