Sony Announces Full-Frame Vario-Tessar T 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Lens, XLR-K2M XLR Box and Microphone, HVL-F32M Flash, and Alpha Accessories

Sony announced the official release of the Sony Vario-Tessar T 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS lens, XLR-K2M XLR box and microphone, HVL-F32M flash, and new Alpha Accessories. This new Zeiss-designed lens features image stabilization, Zeiss T coatings, and other features designed for full-frame E-mount applications. The accessory lineup includes a wireless remote and receiver, and a system bag. Sony continues to expand its Alpha camera-lens family with an all-new Zeiss-designed Vario-Tessar T 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS wide-angle zoom lens. The new lens features a dust- and moisture-resistant design and is designed to cover wide-angle zoom needs. It is designed for full-frame cameras but can also be used on APS-C E-mount cameras, as well, with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-52.5mm. The constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range and is especially beneficial when working in low-light conditions. Also helping the photographer in dim light is the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, which is designed to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops. This new lens incorporates a generous five aspherical elements, including a large diameter AA (advanced aspherical) element, and three ED (extra-low dispersion) elements to help reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range. Carl Zeiss T anti-reflective coatings have been applied to the lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting while providing enhanced contrast, clarity, and color fidelity. The new HVL-F32M TTL external flash packs high-performance, advanced features of larger flashes into a compact design with a guide number of 32, wireless control, high-speed synchronization mode, and a built-in bounce sheet. It has auto-zooming control, is dust- and moisture-resistant, and is powered by two AA batteries. The XLR-K2M allows to connect professional-quality microphones, mixing consoles, and sound studios to cameras equipped with a Multi-Interface shoe; including Sony's a7 series, RX series, and select camcorders. The adapter features two XLR channels with independent controls. The kit comes included with the ECM-XM1 shotgun microphone. A new RMT-VP1K Wireless Receiver and Remote Commander Kit features a 360deg IR receiver, works on any Sony camera with a multi terminal, and allows camera control for still photography or video. The nylon LCS-PSC7 System Bag is designed to carry an E-mount camera and attached lens as well as accessories.

Teradek Announces Collaboration with Sony on Integration of Products at the 2014 IBC

Teradek announced collaboration with Sony Corporation to integrate Sony's wireless camera adapter (CBK-WA100 and CBK-WA101) with Teradek's T-Rax and Slice H.264 decoders. The integration offers broadcasters a powerful point-to-point MPEG-2 solution for HD live video transmission from the field to TV stations or ENG trucks. The Teradek T-Rax is an enterprise rack mount solution for IP-based digital video workflows. At just 2RU, T-Rax allows users to add or remove a variety of Teradek solutions on the fly, including H.264 encoders and decoders, and software platforms such as Sputnik. The system supports any combination of up to 8 hot-swappable cards that can be tailored to your unique requirements at any time. T-Rax starts at $1,490. The CBK-WA100 and WA101 adapter connects directly to a camera and allows XAVC proxy files to be created and then saved on an SD card in the adapter. Then the adapter is able to upload the proxy content and the original high-resolution content via 3G/4G/LTE/WirelessLAN to a broadcast station, on premise server or to a cloud environment. The adapter will support the live streaming capability in early 2015.
