Spartan Motors, Inc, through its subsidiaries, engineers, manufactures, and sells heavy-duty and custom vehicles in the United States, Canada, South America, and Asia. The company operates in three segments: Emergency Response Vehicles, Delivery and Service Vehicles, and Specialty Chassis and Vehicles. The Emergency Response Vehicles segment offers emergency response chassis and bodies, and aerial ladders. The Service and Delivery Vehicles segment provides walk-in vans and hi-cube vans for use in the package delivery, one-way truck rental, bakery/snack delivery, utility, and linen/uniform rental businesses; and commercial truck bodies, as well as sells aftermarket parts and assemblies. The Specialty Chassis and Vehicles segment offers motor home chassis, defense vehicles, and other specialty chassis, as well as distributes related aftermarket parts and assemblies. Spartan Motors, Inc. markets its products under the Spartan, Crimson Fire, Utilimaster, Aeromaster, Trademaster, Metromaster, and Utilivan brand names. The company sells its products through a network of independent truck dealers to commercial vehicle dealers, original equipment manufacturers, and leasing companies, as well as and directly to end-users. Spartan Motors, Inc. was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Charlotte, Michigan.

Income before taxes was $51,000 compared to $1,096,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $247,000 or $0.01 per basic and diluted share, compared to $691,000 or $0.02 per basic and diluted share, a year ago. For the six months, the company’s sales were $243,754,000 compared to $217,010,000 a year ago. Operating loss was $3,511,000 compared to $5,761,000 a year ago.
