The company accepts various deposit products that include interest bearing and non-interest bearing checking accounts, money market accounts, savings accounts, sweep accounts, NOW accounts, repurchase agreements, various certificates of deposits, and IRA accounts. Its loan portfolio comprises commercial and business loans, industrial loans, personal loans, commercial and home mortgage loans, home equity loans, and automobile loans. The company also provides Internet-banking services, including commercial cash management services and personal banking services; remote deposit capture with check deposit capabilities; drive-in teller services, automated teller services, wire transfer, lock box, and safe deposit services; cashier’s checks, money orders, travelers’ checks, bank-by-mail, direct deposit, and U.S. savings bonds; and mortgage brokerage services. It operates branches at four locations, including downtown New Haven, the Amity/Westville section of New Haven, Branford, and North Haven. The company was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut.

On January 29, 2013, Southern Connecticut Bancorp Inc. and The Bank of Southern Connecticut, entered into an employment agreement with Sunil Pallan effective January 1, 2013 and an employment agreement with Stephen V. Ciancarelli effective January 1, 2013. Under the President's Agreement, Pallan will serve as President of Bancorp and the Bank and Senior Loan Officer of the Bank for the period from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, unless the President's Agreement is terminated earlier in accordance with its terms. Under the CFO's Agreement, Ciancarelli will serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bancorp and the Bank for the period from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, unless the CFO's Agreement is terminated earlier in accordance with its terms.
