The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Axiata Group Berhad (KLSE:AXIATA), parent of PT XL Axiata Tbk (JKSE:EXCL) is seeking to acquire PT AXIS Telekom Indonesia from Saudi Telecom Company (SASE:7010), Bisnis Indonesia reported. PT Axis Telekom is worth up to $1 billion, Bisnis Indonesia added. XL Axiata's share fell 2.88% stake in IDR 5.
Saudi Telecom Co. has appointed the company's chairman as acting chief executive, Abdulaziz Al-Sugair will take the helm following the imminent departure of CEO Khaled Al-Ghoneim. Al-Ghaneim resigned on March 17, 2013. Al-Sugair and Al-Ghaneim were both appointed in June 2012 and the latter had quit over differences on how to make STC more efficient.
Saudi Telecom Co's Chief Executive Khaled al-Ghoneim has resigned after less than a year in the job.Ghoneim was appointed in June 2012 following the resignation of his predecessor Saud al-Daweesh two months earlier, while the heads of the state-controlled firm's domestic and international operations have also quit over the past 12 months.
