Stora Enso Invests in Quality and Cost-Competitiveness of Imatra Mills in Finland

Stora Enso Oyj invests EUR 27 million to improve the quality and cost-competitiveness and to increase the capacity of the consumer board machine 5 by 20,000 tonnes at its Imatra Mills in Finland. The investment will focus on the coating part of the machine and on modernising the winder and reel packaging section. According to the plan, the modernisation of the reel packaging section will take place in the spring 2015 while the machine is running. The rest of the work is planned to be carried out during the scheduled maintenance stoppage in September 2015. Imatra Mills consists of two units, Kaukopaa and Tainionkoski. The annual capacity of the mills is over one million tonnes of board and paper. The mills employ approximately 870 people, about 90 of them work at Tainionkoski.

Stora Enso Oyj Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Fourth Quarter of 2014; Provides Capital Expenditure Guidance for 2014

Stora Enso Oyj reported consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company's sales were EUR 2,514 million against EUR 2,553 million a year ago. Operational EBITDA was EUR 333 million against EUR 319 million a year ago. Operational EBIT was EUR 210 million against EUR 184 million a year ago. Operating profit was EUR 215 million against EUR 156 million a year ago. Profit before tax excl. NRI was EUR 116 million against EUR 126 million a year ago. Profit before tax was EUR 144 million against EUR 103 million a year ago. Net profit was EUR 123 million against EUR 84 million a year ago. EPS excl. NRI was EUR 0.12 against EUR 0.13 a year ago. Basic EPS was EUR 0.15 against EUR 0.11 a year ago. Operational ROCE was 9.7% against 8.3% a year ago. For the nine months, the company's sales were EUR 7,661 million against EUR 7,951 million a year ago. Operational EBITDA was EUR 961 million against EUR 830 million a year ago. Operational EBIT is expected to be somewhat lower than the EUR 210 million in third quarter due to normal seasonal weakness in the Renewable Packaging and Building and Living divisions. Capital expenditure forecast for 2014. Now the forecast for capital expenditure will be in the range of EUR 790 million to EUR 840 million. Actually, the company has now narrowed compared to previous guidance.

Stora Enso Oyj Approves Executive Appointments

Stora Enso Oyj's annual general meeting held on April 23, 2014, decided to appoint a nomination board to prepare proposals concerning (a) the number of members of the board of directors, (b) the members of the board of directors, (c) the remuneration for the chairman, vice chairman and members of the board of directors and (d) the remuneration for the chairman and members of the committees of the board of directors. The nomination board shall consist of four members: the chairman of the board of directors, the vice chairman of the board of directors and two other members appointed by the two shareholders (one each) as of 30 September 2014. Stora Enso's nomination board has been appointed. The composition of the nomination board is as follows: Gunnar Brock (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stora Enso), Juha Rantanen (Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stora Enso), Pekka Ala-Pietila (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Solidium), and Marcus Wallenberg (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Foundation Asset Management). Pekka Ala-Pietila is the Chairman of the nomination board.
