Statoil ASA, an integrated energy company, is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, and marketing of petroleum and petroleum-derived products in Norway and internationally. The company is involved in the exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as extraction of natural gas liquids in 44 assets in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea. It also transports, markets, and trades crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined products, including methanol; and operates, maintains, and develops gas processing plants. In addition, the company develops offshore wind-farms in Northwestern Europe; and develops solutions for carbon capture and storage plant located in Mongstad. It has proved reserves of approximately 5,600 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company was formerly known as StatoilHydro ASA and changed its name to Statoil ASA in November 2009. Statoil ASA was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.

Statoil ASA Reports Issuance of USD 3 billion Debt Notes

Statoil ASA announced that it has issued USD 3 billion notes. The company issued USD 750 million 1.250% notes due 9 November 2017; USD 500 million floating rate notes due 9 November 2017; USD 750 million 2.250% notes due 8 November 2019; USD 500 million 2.750% notes due 10 November 2021; and USD 500 million 3.250% notes due 10 November 2024. Net proceeds will be used by the company for general corporate purposes, repayment or purchase of existing debt as well as to increase its financial flexibility.

Statoil and Union Oil Company of California Sanction Stampede Development in the Gulf of Mexico

Statoil, together with co-owners in the Stampede development in the Gulf of Mexico announced it has sanctioned this project. Statoil has decided to invest USD 1.5 billion in the Stampede development in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, which is expected to begin production in 2018. Statoil owns 25% of Stampede, which is operated by Hess. Stampede, a new project named from unitizing the former discoveries of Knotty Head and Pony, is located approximately 350 kilometers (215 miles) from New Orleans, Louisiana at a water depth of more than 1,000 meters (3,500 feet). The reservoir depth is 9,100 meters (30,000 feet). Stampede consists of Green Canyon Blocks 468, 511 and 512. Statoil estimates the reservoir contains approximately 350 million barrels of recoverable oil. Stampede's development plan calls for six subsea production wells and four water injection wells from two subsea drill centers tied back to a tension leg platform. Gross topsides processing capacity for the project is approximately 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 100,000 barrels of water injection capacity per day. Statoil's co-owners in Stampede include Union Oil Company of California. The total Stampede development is expected to cost $6 billion.
