Telekom Malaysia Berhad Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014; Declares Interim Dividend for the Financial Year Ending December 31, 2014

Telekom Malaysia Berhad reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported profit attributable to equity holders of MYR 2141 million or 6.0 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 2,821.8 million compared to profit attributable to equity holders of MYR 213.9 million or 6.0 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 2,613.8 million for the corresponding period last year. Operating profit before finance cost was MYR 337.7 million against MYR 332.8 million of prior year period. Profit before taxation and zakat was MYR 309.4 million against MYR 241.9 million of prior year period. Group revenue was increased by 8.0% mainly due to higher revenue from Internet and multimedia, data and other telecommunications related services which mitigated the decline in voice and non-telecommunications related services. Group profit after tax and non-controlling interests (PATAMI) increased marginally to MYR 214.1 million as compared to MYR 213.9 million in the corresponding quarter last year primarily due to lower net finance cost net off higher tax charge in line with the expiry of tax incentives in second half of 2013. Net assets per share attributable to ordinary equity holders of the parent was MYR 2.034 as on June 30, 2014. For the six months, the company reported profit attributable to equity holders of MYR 424.7 million or 11.9 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 5,441.8 million compared to profit attributable to equity holders of MYR 427.1 million or 11.9 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 5,038.4 million for the corresponding period last year. Operating profit before finance cost was MYR 654 million against MYR 630.7 million of prior year period. Profit before taxation and zakat was MYR 589 million against MYR 471.4 million of prior year period. Cash flows from operating activities were MYR 822.6 million against MYR 620.5 million of prior year period. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 874.8 million against MYR 1,187.8 million of prior year period. Operating profit before finance was increased by 3.7% mainly due to higher revenue and other operating income. Group revenue was increased by 8.0% mainly attributed to higher revenue from data, Internet and multimedia and other telecommunications related services partially offset by lower contribution from voice and non-telecommunications related services. Group PATAMI was decreased primarily due to higher tax charge which was partially offset by lower net finance cost this year to date. The board of directors of company has declared an interim single-tier dividend of 9.5 sen per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2014 against an interim single-tier dividend of 9.8 sen per share for the 2013. The board of directors has also determined that the dividend reinvestment scheme will apply to the interim dividend. The interim dividend will be paid no later than 3 months from the date of this announcement.

Telekom Malaysia and Accor Jointly Launch Service Offerings for Respective Customers

Telekom Malaysia and Accor announced that it have signed a partnership agreement to jointly launch service offerings for their respective customers. Telekom Malaysia and Accor will jointly provide products and services, loyalty programmes, corporate collaborations, joint marketing and promotions, earned media value, as well as additional benefits for both parties' employees. The agreement also covers the provisioning of Telekom Malaysia's services to hotels under Accor, including the 'Hospitality Entertainment Solution', an ICT and entertainment package from Telekom Malaysia. The Hospitality Entertainment Solution platform comprises in-building broadband services, the HyppTV IPTV service, and a call centre service, powered by Telekom Malaysia's broadband network.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd Seeks More Tie-Ups to Expand Hospitality Entertainment Solution

Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) is seeking more collaboration opportunities with the hotel industry to expand its hospitality entertainment solution (HES). On the collaborative agreement, TM is expected to provide the solution for 10 hotels under Accor Hotels in Malaysia. The partnership will also focus on mutual benefit cooperation of products and services, loyalty programmes, corporate collaborations, joint marketing and promotions, earned media values as well as additional benefits for both parties' employees.
