The company’s mobile communication services include voice, data, Internet, and content services, as well as customer equipment and messaging. Telenor Launches Mobile Banking Unit Telenor Banka in Serbia

Telenor announced that it has launched its first financial institution, Telenor Banka, which will provide mobile banking services in Serbia. The digitalization of cash payments and the convenience of online and mobile banking are expected to stimulate financial and economic growth in Serbia, where some 80% of transactions are currently performed in cash. Thanks to an agreement with MasterCard, consumers in Serbia will be able to access Telenor Banka's own and other ATMs for money withdrawals and deposits. They will also be able to open their account at Telenor service shops nationwide.

Telenor Mulls Acquisitions

Telenor ASA (OB:TEL) is looking for acquisitions. Telenor ASA stated, "We will be open to looking and evaluating growth opportunities as and when they come, but the focus now is on strengthening service in the regions where Uninor is present and on launching operations in Assam."

Telenor Plans to Launch Services in Myanmar

Telenor planned to launch services in Myanmar in the current quarter. The first call on its new network there was made in April and a friendly user test was launched in June. The company invested NOK 275 million in the country in the second quarter in preparation for the launch and incurred a NOK 86 million operating loss there. Opex and capex are expected to increase as the operation will ramp up its marketing activities and continue network expansion.
