Tigerair Singapore Reports Operating Results for the Month and Year Ended November 2014

Tigerair Singapore reported operating results for the month and year ended November 2014. For the month of November 2014, Tigerair Singapore recorded a 2.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in traffic to 784 million revenue passenger-kilometres (RPK), while capacity decreased by 5.3% to 974 million available seat-kilometres (ASK). Consequently, y-o-y passenger load factor increased by 6.3 percentage points to 80.5%. The number of passengers carried fell by 3.8% y-o-y to about 407,000. For the 12 months to November 2014, Tigerair Singapore recorded a 10.4% y-o-y increase in traffic to 9.9 billion RPK, while capacity increased by 11.6% to 12.3 billion ASK. Consequently, passenger load factor was 0.9 percentage point lower at 80.3%. The number of passengers carried grew by 9.2% to 5.3 million, compared to 4.8 million in the previous period.

Tigerair to Launch Flights from Singapore to Nanning and Guilin, China

Tigerair announced it will launch twice weekly direct flights between Singapore and Nanning in southern China. Then on 15 November the airline will launch one flight per week between Singapore and Guilin, also in southern China.

For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of SGD 146,705,000 against SGD 163,842,000 a year ago. Operating loss was SGD 25,294,000 against SGD 12,806,000 a year ago. Loss before taxation was SGD 186,518,000 against profit before taxation of SGD 22,063,000 a year ago. Loss for the period was SGD 182,382,000 or 18.47 cents per basic and diluted share against profit for the period was SGD 23,821,000 or 1.86 cents per diluted share a year ago. Net cash flow used in operating activities was SGD 34,533,000 against net cash from operating activities of SGD 35,000 a year ago. Loss for the period was SGD 247,604,000 or 25.08 cents per basic and diluted share against SGD 8,948,000 or 0.91 cents per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash flow from operating activities was SGD 18,888,000 against SGD 105,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was SGD 33,800,000 against SGD 194,620,000 a year ago. Additions to intangible assets were SGD 121,000. The company announced operating results for the second quarter and first half ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported passengers booked of 1,242,000 compared to 1,219,000 a year ago. Revenue passenger-km was 2,364 million compared to 2,251 million a year ago. Available seat-km was 2,865 million compared to 2,867 million a year ago. Passenger load factor was 82.5% compared to 78.5% a year ago. For the first half, the company reported passengers booked of 2,653,000 compared to 2,432,000 a year ago. Revenue passenger-km was 4,973 million compared to 4,503 million a year ago.
