The company’s Steel Europe segment offers flat carbon steel, slabs and flat steel products for use in the automotive, construction, appliance, energy, and packaging sectors. ThyssenKrupp AG Announces Earnings Results for Third Quarter Ended June 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for Full Year of 2014 and 2015

ThyssenKrupp announced earnings results for third quarter ended June 2014. The group turned in net profit of EUR 40 million in the three-month period compared with a loss of EUR 398 million a year earlier, and underlying operating profit nearly trebled to EUR 398 million on an 8.0% rise in sales to EUR 10.742 billion. Quarter-on-quarter, net debt was broadly stable at EUR 4.1 billion by the end of June 2014. For full year 2014, the company operating profit was expected to double from last year's EUR 586 million. For the fiscal year 2015, the company expect, with higher earnings and less discrete items, that the tax rate should hopefully more normalize towards than still a 30% to 40% range and still these effects from Brazil will impact overall the tax rate, but it should normalize overall over time now and not be so going up and down like in the last quarters.

ThyssenKrupp Reportedly Still Plans To Sell VDM

ThyssenKrupp AG (XTRA:TKA) has not given up plans to sell VDM Metals GmbH, ThyssenKrupp's Chief Financial Officer, Guido Kerkhoff, said as quoted by Reuters on August 14, 2014. ThyssenKrupp hopes that it will also find a buyer for its stainless steel mill in Terni, Italy, in the longer run, he said. Guido Kerkhoff told journalists that VDM is not believed to be still part of ThyssenKrupp's portfolio in the medium to long term, reported EquityBites. He did not wish to disclose whether ThyssenKrupp was actively seeking a buyer for the business, the news agency noted.

ThyssenKrupp Reportedly Mulls VDM Sale

ThyssenKrupp AG (XTRA:TKA) has appointed Deutsche Bank to handle the sale of Outokumpu VDM GmbH. The sale process is not expected to start until more restructuring measures have been taken at VDM. ThyssenKrupp may even decide to keep the asset if offer prices remain significantly below its book value, two people familiar with the matter said. VDM might be valued at more than €500 million in sale, the people said. Lindsay Goldberg, KPS Capital partners, LP, Triton, Pamplona Capital Management LLP, Advent International Corporation, Aperam (ENXTAM:APAM) and Viktor Vekselberg, one of the sources said. Reuters added that ThyssenKrupp, VDM, Deutsche Bank and the potential buyers declined to comment, except for Renova and KPS, which were not immediately available for comment.
