SAP AG and Telmex Partner to Offer Cloud Solutions to Medium-Sized Companies

SAP AG has partnered with América Móvil's subsidiary Telmex to offer cloud solutions to medium-sized companies in the country, according to a release by the German enterprise software giant. The partnership will provide medium-sized companies in Mexico with access to SAP's Business One solution in the cloud, which integrates financial, procurement, sales, distribution, customer relations and inventory management solutions. The solution has been optimized for medium-sized companies in the retail, wholesale, manufacturing and professional services industries. The cloud services will be provided via Telmex's Triara data center, which was inaugurated last year in Querétaro state.

The Country of Mexico Sues Telmex for Allegedly Charging Illegal Fees

The country of Mexico is suing Telmex for allegedly charging illegal fees. The fees were added to what is already the highest phone rates of any developed country. The lawsuit, filed by the federal consumer protection agency this week, is trying to halt the fees they say are illegal and hopes to recover money for millions of the companies customers. Telmex has been illegally charging customers a monthly fee to keep their names out of the phone directory. The fees are illegal because the right of privacy is a constitutional right.

Mexico's Consumer Protection Agency Files Class-Action Lawsuit Against the Telmex

Mexico's consumer protection agency has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Telmex phone company of Carlos Slim for charging its customers for services that should be free. The Federal Prosecutor's Office for the Consumer (Profeco) announced that Telmex, which dominates the country's fixed-line market, was unduly charging people for a privacy service, a phone directory and information on incoming and outgoing calls. Profeco said the services must remain free as a constitutional right. The legal action allows any Telmex user to join the lawsuit against the company, which controls 80% of the market.
