Tenaga Nasional Berhad, through its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Labuan. The company operates six thermal stations and three hydroelectric schemes, as well as manages and operates the National Grid, which is connected to Thailand’s transmission system in the north and Singapore’s transmission system in the south. It also engages in the manufacture of power and earthing transformers, high voltage switchgears, power and general cables, and aluminum rods; provision of professional consultancy services; and architectural, civil, and electrical engineering works. In addition, the company supplies fuel and coal for power generation; engages in contracting business, as well as energy project development activities specializing in district cooling system and co-generation, including operation and maintenance works; provides repair and maintenance services to heavy industries and other related services; the contracting of turnkey transmission substations; offers higher education and training services, as well as consultancy, advisory, capability development, and corporate coordination programs; and operates district cooling system for air conditioning systems of office building. Further, it provides property development and management services, as well as research and development services in areas related to engineering, information technology, business, accountancy, liberal studies, and other services; and undertakes the build, operate, and transfer project for the supply of chilled water. Additionally, the company engages in generating, distributing, supplying, dealing, and selling various kinds of energy sources and related technical services; and provision of quality assurance, chemical, and scientific testing services. Tenaga Nasional Berhad was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
