This segment’s products and services comprise legal research solutions; software-based workflow solutions; compliance solutions; marketing, finance and operations software; and business development and legal process outsourcing services. The Tax & Accounting segment provides integrated tax compliance and accounting information, software, and services for professionals in accounting firms, corporations, law firms, and government. The Intellectual Property & Science segment offers intellectual property and scientific information, and decision support tools and services that enable governments, academia, publishers, corporations, and law firms to discover, develop, and deliver innovations. The company also operates Reuters, which provides real-time multimedia news and information services to newspapers, television and cable networks, radio stations, and Websites. The company was formerly known as The Thomson Corporation and changed its name to Thomson Reuters Corporation in April 2008. Thomson Reuters Corporation was incorporated in 1977 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

Thomson Reuters and NEC Corporation have signed a strategic agreement to provide integrated tax solutions to Japanese multinational corporations. Their combined offering will support the mission critical systems of Japanese MNCs in accurately determining, recording and reporting transactional taxes. Under this agreement, NEC will combine the international ONESOURCE Indirect Tax solution from Thomson Reuters with its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions as a robust offering to Japanese companies with global operations. ONESOURCE Indirect Tax enables companies to practically eliminate the effort associated with maintaining ERP systems based on frequently changing domestic and international tax rules and regulations. The solution allows changes to be applied quickly without the typical burden to IT, thereby reducing company costs and strengthening global governance and internal controls. ONESOURCE Indirect Tax allows customers to automate the preparation of compliance documentation for 45 countries, provides easy access and review of current and historical consolidated tax liability data for compliance processing and audit purposes, allows companies to quickly support additional country expansion plans for their global operations.

Thomson Reuters Announces Pricing of $1 Billion Note Offering

Thomson Reuters announced the pricing of its offering of $1 billion of debt securities, which consists of $550 million principal amount of 1.65% notes due 2017, and $450 million principal amount of 3.85% notes due 2024. The offering is expected to close on September 29, 2014, subject to customary closing conditions.

Thomson Reuters Corporation has released a new multi-volume WG&L Estate Series treatise for estate planners, Tax Planning for Family Wealth Transfers at Death. The treatise provides detailed discussion and analysis of the special income, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues and strategies concerning the transmission of an individual's or family's assets at death. It contains over 300 sample wills, trusts, and client explanation letters. This is a companion treatise to Tax Planning for Family Wealth Transfers During Life: Analysis with Forms, which discusses the various ways that lifetime transfers can reduce a family's income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes. By contrast, this new treatise addresses how well-planned transfers at death can preserve a family's wealth by minimizing taxes and other costs.
