Esri announced that it is teaming up with strategic partner e-Site Inc. to bring unique trip and traffic flow insights to the ArcGIS platform. The insights are derived from eSite tools using origin and destination data from TomTom and will be delivered through Esri's ArcGIS Online. Retailers, merchandisers, restaurants, banks, and others, will be able to define real-world trade areas and market potential for their stores, restaurants, clinics, branches, and facilities. he trip data exposes the origin and destination for any consumer trip to or from a trade area. When combined with Esri Location Analytics, these new eSite tools will allow retailers to move beyond inferred trade area demographics to do the following: Filter data by parts of the day, a full day, or week; Better understand where their potential customers come from and where they go; See how potential customers interact with their stores as well as their competitors stores. Now, instead of relying on typical residence-based trade area reporting, end-to-end market modeling and forecasting will be based on fact, not intuition.

TomTom NV announces that TripAdvisor has licensed TomTom's new Global Geocoder Services to integrate highly accurate location-based intelligence into its websites and applications. This will provide TripAdvisor's 200 million unique monthly visitors with pinpoint location data for every hotel or restaurant when posting or reading reviews. Through TomTom's Global Geocoding Service, the location of all hotels, accommodation, restaurants and bars that feature on the TripAdvisor website will be extremely accurate. Rather than using a postcode to show location, all addresses are now automatically converted into exact map coordinates, making locations precise and easier to find. The TomTom Geocoding Service supports house number, address point, street or postal level identification in over 50 countries, providing TripAdvisor with almost worldwide coverage of highly accurate location data that its users can rely on.

TomTom NV reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of the group came in at EUR 202 million and compares to EUR 233 million in the same quarter last year. The adjusted earnings per share was EUR 0.03, and compares to EUR 0.04 in the same quarter last year. Net debt at the end of the quarter was EUR 14 million, significant reduction from the EUR 86 million at the start of the year, and is largely explained by the receipt of EUR 70 million of the EUR 80 million one-off tax refund. The net result was a loss of EUR 2.3 million compared with EUR 1.5 million loss in the prior year, which represents adjusted earnings per share of EUR 0.03 and EUR 0.04, respectively. The company generated cash from operations of EUR 27 million, which compares to EUR 16 million in the same quarter last year. CapEx increased to EUR 21 million from EUR 30 million last year, and the majority of the investments were related to the map production platform, the navigation engine and customer-specific investments in Automotive. Revenue was EUR 202 million against EUR 233 million a year ago. EBITDA was EUR 29 million against EUR 28 million a year ago. LPS, diluted was EUR 0.01 against EUR 0.01 a year ago. Loss before tax was EUR 1.809 million against EUR 0.859 million a year ago. Based on these results and expectations for the remainder of the year 2013, the company maintains its guidance for the full year revenue of between EUR 900 million and EUR 950 million and adjusted earnings per share of around EUR 0.20.
