Toupargel-Agrigel announced unaudited group sales results for the first quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company reported sales of €74.1 million compared to €83.9 million a year ago. The 2013 financial year has four fewer days of sale than the 2012 financial year, three of which fell in the first quarter. This calendar effect had an impact of almost 5%, estimated at €4 million, on first quarter sales. The horsemeat scandal at the beginning of February 2013 had a negative impact on the Frozen Foods business, leading to a €3 million decline in sales. Furthermore, fewer new customers were created, resulting in a decline in sales of almost €2 million. On the other hand, Easter fell in March 2013, as opposed to April in 2012, which had a positive effect on the average shopping basket, increasing 3.3% to €49.3 in the first quarter of 2013, boosting sales by €1.3 million.
Toupargel-Agrigel announced audited consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2012. For the year, the company reported sales of €327.1 million against €339.2 million a year ago. Cash flow from operations was €18.7 million or €1.86 per share against €15.4 million or €1.51 per share a year ago. Net debt amounted to €11.7 million as of 31 December 2012 compared with €9.0 million as of 31 December 2011.
