This segment also provides regulatory and operational risk management solutions. The Legal segment offers online and print information, decision support tools, and software and services to support legal, investigation, business, and government professionals. This segment’s products and services comprise legal research solutions; software-based workflow solutions; compliance solutions; marketing, finance and operations software; and business development and legal process outsourcing services. The Tax & Accounting segment provides integrated tax compliance and accounting information, software, and services for professionals in accounting firms, corporations, law firms, and government. The Intellectual Property & Science segment offers intellectual property and scientific information, and decision support tools and services that enable governments, academia, publishers, corporations, and law firms to discover, develop, and deliver innovations. The company also operates Reuters, which provides real-time multimedia news and information services to newspapers, television and cable networks, radio stations, and Websites. The company was formerly known as The Thomson Corporation and changed its name to Thomson Reuters Corporation in April 2008. Thomson Reuters Corporation was incorporated in 1977 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

Thomson Reuters and Copyright Clearance Center Collaborate to Advance Open Access Publishing

The Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters announced a collaboration with Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) to streamline the Open Access publishing workflow with an integrated solution for article processing charges (APCs) through ScholarOneTM Manuscripts, the premier journal and peer review tool for scholarly publishers and societies. CCC's RightsLink for Open Access will integrate into ScholarOne Manuscripts, providing authors with a secure, end-to-end solution for Open Access article submission and peer review, including the management of APCs. Historically, APC fee processing has been a cumbersome, manual and costly part of the Open Access publishing process.

Internal Revenue Service Selects Thomson Reuters for Agency-Wide Legal, Tax Research Solutions

Thomson Reuters announced that it has been awarded a new multi-year contract from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide research resources for the agency. As the primary enterprise-wide provider of online legal and tax research for the IRS, Thomson Reuters will provide an array of solutions and content from its Legal and Tax & Accounting businesses. As many as 20,000 IRS professionals across the agency's multiple divisions will have access to WestlawNext(TM) and WestlawNext Tax augmented by integrated content from Thomson Reuters Checkpoint. The integrated solutions and content will support agency personnel in researching tax laws around enforcement actions; identifying relevant statutes, codes, treatises, and other documents for policy advisory purposes; and searching cases to develop briefs to support the agency in legal actions. It will assist taxpayer resolution representatives, customer service representatives, revenue agents, international agents, attorneys and other personnel in conducting a full analysis of a tax return, whether part of the audit process, collection process, or assistance process.
