telecommunication systems-a (TSYS) Key Developments

TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. Introduces Defender9-1-1(TM)

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced the availability of its Defender9-1-1(TM) Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) call handling solution. Defender9-1-1, the next generation of TCS' X-Solution(TM) product line, features advanced capabilities, improved performance, scalability and availability. Its enterprise-grade components are compliant with National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 standards, and present modular and cost-effective configurations for public safety agencies of all sizes. News Facts: Compliance with Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) NENA i3 standards enables PSAPs to receive text messages, photos and streaming video to enhance responses to emergency calls. Defender9-1-1's suite is Internet Protocol (IP) and Geographic Information System (GIS)-centric, providing accurate caller information and location for the dispatch of emergency services. In-memory distributed cache architecture can span multiple servers, resulting in greater stability, faster performance, improved scalability and high availability. Defender9-1-1's modern, tile-based, graphical user interface (GUI) enables flexible personalization and customization of the user workspace tailored to individual PSAP preferences. The dashboard's browser-based management enables system administrators to monitor and control the system from anywhere within their network.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Selects TeleCommunication Systems to Research Improvements in Geo-targeting Accuracy for Wireless Emergency Alerts

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) has selected TCS to perform the first phase of its research study: Constructing Algorithms that Utilize RF Cell Site Propagation Footprints for Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The study focuses on using the area footprints associated with radio frequency (RF) coverage to improve geo-targeting granularity and accuracy for delivery of WEA messages. The outcome of TCS' research will provide DHS S&T with recommendations to enhance geo-targeting methods with a goal of providing more focused geo-targeting alert area notifications and increased safety to wireless device users.

TeleCommunication Systems Introduces Radiation-Tolerant Flash Memory Device

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced the availability of its radiation-tolerant NAND flash memory device. Based on proven single-level cell NAND flash technology, the 8-gigabit, radiation-tolerant flash device provides affordable, reliable data storage capacity in space, military, medical and other harsh environments with potential exposure to radiation. The NAND flash memory device fills the space industry's need for low power, nonvolatile memory, suitable for use in satellites, launch vehicles, aircraft and other high-reliability environments. TCS' radiation-tolerant NAND flash memory device has passed rigorous testing to meet U.S. military and space-level requirements for high-reliability and durability. Configured as an asynchronous NAND flash, the device's high-density memory capacity consists of a single 8-gigabit (1024Mx8) die in a hermetically sealed 48-lead ceramic package. NAND is a major form of flash memory distinguished by its unique approach to logic function. Due to advantages in density and power over NOR flash, NAND flash is primarily used in main memory, USB flash drives, solid-state drives and similar products for general storage and transfer of data.
