Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S. engages in establishing and operating a global system for mobile communications network primarily in Turkey. It provides mobile voice, broadband, and other services on postpaid and prepaid basis. The company offers voice services, mobile broadband, and other mobile services; and various consumer products and services, such as credit balance, call management, purchases and payments via SMS, security services, information packages, finance and government-related transactions via mobile, entertainment services, and social networks, such as Facebook SMS, Twitter SMS, and other chat services. It also provides various mobile applications, mobile marketing, corporate products and services, partner services, smart enablers services, authentication services, location-based services, and machine to machine communications. In addition, the company offers mobile payment, digital media, and international roaming services. As of December 31, 2012, it had approximately 21.9 million prepaid subscribers and 13.2 million postpaid subscribers. The company sells its products and services through distributors, distribution centers, corporate solution centers, non exclusive dealers, communication centers, stores, and consumer electronic chains, as well as points of sale for prepaid airtime, including digital channels, ATMs, POSs, Web, call centers, supermarkets, gas stations, and kiosks. The company was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S. is a subsidiary of Turkcell Holding A.S.

Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of TRY 2,688.4 million compared to TRY 2,381.8 million a year ago. Operating profit before financing costs was TRY 448.5 million compared to TRY 364.6 million a year ago. Income before taxes and minority interest was TRY 699.9 million compared to TRY 616.4 million a year ago. Net income was TRY 566.9 million or TRY 0.26 per share compared to TRY 515.5 million or TRY 0.23 per share a year ago. EBITDA was TRY 807.6 million compared to TRY 702.7 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were TRY 199.5 million compared to TRY 252.9 million a year ago. On IFRS basis, Operating profit before financing costs was TRY 446.9 million compared to TRY 363.1 million a year ago. Income before taxes and minority interest was TRY 698.3 million compared to TRY 614.9 million a year ago. Net income was TRY 565.6 million or TRY 0.26 per share compared to TRY 514.8 million or TRY 0.23 per share a year ago. Net income increased by 23.2%, mainly due to higher net finance income of TRY 129.3 and lower depreciation and amortization expenses of TRY 360.4 million, as opposed to the lower EBITDA. Net cash used in operating activities was $182.3 million compared to $104.2 million a year ago.

Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS has announced that it launched mobile payment in transportation for the first time in Turkey through the integration of Turkcell Wallet and Urfakart. The public transportation card Urfakart was integrated into the Turkcell Wallet platform through the collaboration between Turkcell, Belsan and Asis and with the support of the Sanliurfa Municipality. The collaboration, which opens a whole new era in public transportation enables users to realize contactless payments over their mobile phones while travelling as well as giving them the option of carrying out transactions like topping up cash and checking balances without having to go to an actual payment point. With the new technology will ease customers' lives while contributing to Belsan's operational efficiency. In order for Turkcell customers to make use of Urfakart, they should link it to their mobile phones Smart phone owners can add Urfakart by downloading the Turkcell Wallet application over the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). After adding Urfakart to Turkcell Wallet, Turkcell customers can use their debit or credit cards on their Turkcell Wallet to top up cash to their Urfakart. Those who choose not to use bank or credit cards can top up their Urfakart by using Turkcell Mobile Payment. These payments are reflected to their bills or deducted from their balance. Those with NFC featured phones can make contactless payments while travelling. Customers can also check their balances over their mobile phones using the Turkcell Wallet.
