Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Limited, an industrial shipping company, provides marine transportation services in South America. It operates in River Business, Offshore Supply Business, and Ocean Business segments. The company owns and operates dry and tanker barges, and push boats. As of December 31, 2012, it owned and operated 669 barges and 33 pushboats that transport dry bulk and liquid cargos through the Hidrovia Region of South America. The company also owns and operates vessels that provide critical logistical and transportation services for offshore petroleum exploration and production companies in the coastal waters of Brazil and the North Sea through a fleet of nine platform supply vessels. In addition, it operates eight oceangoing vessels, including four product tankers in the South American coastal trade, two container feeder vessels, one oceangoing pushboat, and one inland tank barge. The company serves the shipping markets for containers, grain and soya bean products, forest products, minerals, crude oil, petroleum, and refined petroleum products, as well as the offshore oil platform supply market. Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Limited was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Nassau, the Bahamas.
