The company’s Oncology Systems segment offers linear accelerators, brachytherapy afterloaders, treatment simulation and verification equipment, and accessories; and information management, treatment planning, and image processing software. This segment serves university research and community hospitals, private and governmental institutions, healthcare agencies, physicians’ offices, and cancer care clinics. Its X-Ray Products segment provides X-ray imaging components to large imaging system original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for use in radiographic or fluoroscopic imaging, mammography, special procedures, computed tomography, and industrial applications; and X-ray tubes and flat panel digital image detectors to small OEMs, independent service companies, and end-users for filmless X-ray imaging. The company also designs, manufactures, sells, and services Linatron X-ray accelerators, imaging processing software, and image detection products for security and inspection purposes, such as cargo screening at ports and borders, and nondestructive examination in various applications. In addition, it offers products and systems for delivering proton therapy; and technologies in the areas of digital X-ray imaging, volumetric and functional imaging, and improved X-ray sources, as well as technology for security and cargo screening applications. The company was formerly known as Varian Associates, Inc. and changed its name to Varian Medical Systems, Inc. in April 1999. Varian Medical Systems, Inc. was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.

Pre-built templates within the tool allow quick organization and display of key healthcare metrics across the hospital, clinic or network Data can be collected on payer mix, referral sources, patient zip codes, operational performance, patient volume, and case mix per treatment unit, physician volumes, and more. Data can be benchmarked against historical data for trend analysis, and reports can be exported as Excelor Adobe PDF files and e-mail messages. InSightive Analytics will enable users to discover important patterns and trends quickly so they can make more informed data-driven decisions. Users can preprogram dashboards to generate reports on a routine schedule. Graphs and tables can be exported for presentation.

Varian Medical Systems and Infor to Add New Data Integration Capability Within Varian Software Suite for Planning, Managing, and Delivering Cancer Care

Varian Medical Systems and Infor announced a strategic alliance to add new data management capabilities across Varian's software products for enhanced security, interoperability and performance. Varian will deploy the Infor Cloverleaf Integration and Information Exchange Suite to streamline the exchange of healthcare data across the care continuum in order to help healthcare professionals amass usable outcomes data and work toward improving quality of care. Varian plans to utilize all of the modules available within the Infor Cloverleaf Integration and Information Exchange Suite, which will allow users to manage interfaces virtually anytime and anywhere, send and receive data securely, and aggregate and share data from diverse systems, including hospital information systems, labs, health information exchanges, and state and national registries.

Qumulate QA, a cloud-based quality assurance data management and analysis tool for analyzing and benchmarking linear accelerator quality assurance (QA) performance. Velocity oncology software for compiling patient images and treatment data from a variety of sources to support more informed decision making. RapidPlan knowledge-based treatment planning, a software tool that uses historical treatment plan data to increase plan quality and streamline the treatment planning process.
