Veeco Instruments Inc., together with its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and markets thin film equipment to make light emitting diodes (LEDs), flexible organic LED (OLED) displays, hard-disk drives, solar cells, power semiconductors, and wireless components worldwide. The company operates through two segments, LED & Solar, and Data Storage. The LED & Solar segment designs and manufactures metal organic chemical vapor deposition, and molecular beam epitaxy systems and components for the manufacturers of LEDs, wireless components, power semiconductors, and concentrator photovoltaics, as well as for research and development applications. This segment also offers atomic layer deposition technology used by the manufacturers of OLED displays, as well as for semiconductor and solar markets applications. The Data Storage segment designs and manufactures various systems, such as ion beam etch; ion beam deposition; diamond-like carbon; physical vapor deposition; chemical vapor deposition; and slicing, dicing, and lapping systems to create thin film magnetic heads that read and write data on hard disk drives. This segment offers systems to hard drive customers for optical coatings, micro-electro mechanical systems, magnetic sensors, and ultraviolet lithography applications. The company was founded in 1945 and is headquartered in Plainview, New York.

Suzhou Nanojoin Photonics Co., Ltd. Selects TurboDisc MaxBright M MOCVD Systems from Veeco Instruments Inc

Veeco Instruments Inc. announced that Suzhou Nanojoin Photonics Co. Ltd. has selected multiple TurboDisc MaxBright M Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition, or MOCVD, systems for high-volume production of light emitting diodes, or LEDs, to be used for general lighting applications. The order of Veeco's MaxBright M MOCVD systems was placed in the third quarter of 2014. Nanojoin chips and solid state lighting (SSL) products, currently uses both single and multi-reactor Veeco MOCVD systems in their production fab. The system features numerous layout configuration options to fit various fab spacing requirements, including sub-floor storage, which enables more wafer starts per square foot and a reduced cost of ownership.

Veeco Instruments Inc. Wins Orders for Two GENxplor R&D Molecular Beam Epitaxy Systems from Tufts University

Veeco Instruments Inc. has announced that Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts has ordered two GENxplor R&D Molecular Beam Epitaxy, or MBE, Systems for compound semiconductor research. These systems were purchased in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and will be the basis for a new Epitaxial Core Laboratory in the School of Engineering at Tufts. The lab will be directed by Tufts Professor Tom Vandervelde and staffed by an experienced team to produce samples for Tufts University research as well as others in the research and business community.
