Viasystems Group, Inc. provides multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electro-mechanical solutions worldwide. The company operates through two segments, Printed Circuit Boards and Assembly. Its electro-mechanical solutions include various products and services comprising metal enclosures, metal cabinets, metal racks and sub-racks, backplanes, cable assemblies, and busbars. The company also offers a range of manufacturing services that include engineering and prototyping services, PCB and backpanel fabrication, PCB assembly, backpanel assembly, custom metal enclosure fabrication, full system assembly and test, packaging and global distribution, after-sales support, and supply chain management. Its products are used in various commercial products, including automotive engine controls, hybrid converters, automotive electronics for navigation, safety and entertainment, telecommunications switching equipment, data networking equipment, computer storage equipment, semiconductor test equipment, wind and solar energy applications, off-shore drilling equipment, communications applications, and flight control systems, as well as industrial, medical, and other technical instruments. The company markets its products and services to original equipment manufacturers and contract electronic manufacturers through its own sales and marketing organization, as well as through relationships with independent sales agents. It was formerly known as Circo Technologies, Inc. and changed its name to Viasystems Group, Inc. in January 1997. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

For the quarter, the company reported net sales of USD 299.252 million compared to USD 309.172 million a year ago. Operating loss was USD 1.066 million compared to operating income of USD 6.359 million a year ago. Loss before income taxes was USD 13.358 million compared to USD 6.5 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to the common shareholders was USD 16.564 million compared to USD 9.153 million a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per common share was USD 0.82 compared to USD 0.45 a year ago. For the quarter, the company reported net sales of $300,929,000 compared to $285,553,000 a year ago. Operating income was $9,650,000 compared to $4,548,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $1,568,000 compared to $8,376,000 a year ago. Net loss attributable to the common shareholders was $3,859,000 or $0.19 per basic and diluted share compared to $10,369,000 or $0.52 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $35.2 million compared to $30.7 million a year ago. Adjusted net loss attributable to the common shareholders was $13,000 or $0.00 per share compared to adjusted net income attributable to the common shareholders of $5,560,000 or $0.28 per share a year ago. Net sales year-over-year increase of 5.4% and sequential increase of 1.7% were primarily the result of solid demand from customers in the automotive, telecommunications and military and aerospace end markets, partially offset by weaker demand from customers in the industrial & instrumentation, and computer and data communications end markets. For the six months, the company reported that net cash used in operating activities was $12,312,000 compared to net cash provided by operating activities of $40,430,000 a year ago. Capital expenditure was $27,713,000 compared to $39,496,000 a year ago.
