Bumi plc, through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration, mining, and processing of coal and other minerals in Indonesia. It has three principal open cut coal mining operations, including Lati, Binungan, and Sambarata that are located in an 118,400 hectare concession area in east Kalimantan. The company also has interests in Kaltim Prima Coal mine in east Kalimantan, and Arutmin mine in the south east of Kalimantan. In addition, it holds rights to exploit and mine coal in a concession of 984.5 hectares in Loa Ulung, east Kalimantan; owns a 17,840 hectare coal concession area in Muara Enim, south Sumatra; and has interests in 1 operating copper mine and various exploration projects. The company supplies coal to utility companies, coal trading companies, and power plants in Mainland China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Taiwan, and rest of Asia. Bumi plc is based in London, the United Kingdom.

Bumi plc announced that Sir Graham Hearne and Lord Robin Renwick will not be seeking re-election at the company's annual general meeting on 26 June 2013 at which time they will stand down as Independent Non-Executive Directors. Scott Merrillees will also not be seeking re-election as a director of the company. Subject to the outcome of the AGM, Graham Holdaway will succeed Lord Renwick as chairman of the audit committee, Steven Shapiro will succeed Sir Graham He carne as chairman of the Remuneration Committee and Sir Richard Gozney will become chairman of the conflicts committee replacing Steven Shapiro. Samin Tan will step down as Chairman of the company once a new independent chairman has been found but will remain on the board as a non-executive director and the company's business partner in Indonesia. Bumi plc announced consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2012. For the year, revenue was $1,531 million compared to $1,407 million a year ago. Operating loss was $757 million compared to operating profit of $276 million a year ago. Loss before finance items and income tax was $2,312 million compared to profit before finance items and income tax of $237 million a year ago. Loss before income tax was $2,409 million compared to $119 million a year ago. Loss for the year was $2,541 million compared to $306 million a year ago. Loss attributable to owners of the parent was $2,323 million or $9.64 per basic and diluted per share compared to $337 million or $1.76 per basic and diluted per share a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $100 million compared to net cash generated from operating activities $93 million a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was $58 million compared to $42 million a year ago. Underlying EBITDA was $365 million compared to $511 million a year ago. Diluted underlying loss per share was $0.22 compared to Diluted underlying profit per share of $0.48 a year ago. Net debt was $514 million compared to $323 million a year ago. Underlying loss was $52 million compared to underlying earnings of $92 million a year ago. The company reported unaudited production results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company mined 5.3 million tonnes of coal for the quarter, up 27% against first quarter 2012. Total Berau coal mined was 5.3 million tones compared to 4.1 million tones a year ago.
